Laurens, S.C. – Congressman Jeff Duncan released the following statement on the Trump Administration’s announcement to expand the Pro-Life “Mexico City Policy” through the “Protecting Life and Global Health Assistance” initiative:
“I am thankful that we now have an administration that respects and protects life, both at home and abroad. I am pleased to see the expanded Mexico City Policy implemented in our foreign aid efforts to ensure that U.S taxpayer dollars are not spent on subsidizing non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that promote or perform the heinous act of abortion around the globe. In no way, shape, or form should taxpayer dollars support such organizations.
“The United States remains committed to global health assistance, and this initiative does not change the amount of funds available for the Department of State to continue this work. However, we must ensure that we protect the conscience of Americans that do not want to assist organizations that choose to support abortion.
“Thank you to President Trump and Secretary Tillerson for taking this step and showing the world exactly what our nation stands for.”
