COLUMBIA, SC (March 16, 2016) – On Wednesday, political operative Trav Robertson Jr. officially filed as a candidate for Chair of the South Carolina Democratic Party (SCDP) at the Party headquarters in Columbia. Over the weekend, at the monthly meetings for the Anderson and Pickens County Democratic Parties, Robertson announced his intentions to seek the seat.
“The outpouring of support I’ve received since announcing has been incredibly humbling and invigorating. As Democrats, we have an opportunity right now to re-engage voters across the state by focusing on the fundamentals of winning races. With a campaign attitude and a real focus on utilizing the energy of our voters in sustainable, creative ways, we can rebuild the Democratic party while fighting for the values that South Carolinians hold dear.”

Throughout the campaign, Robertson will be traveling the state and speaking to members of the party in each of the state’s 46 counties in preparation for the vote at the end of April. About the election: The next chair of the state party will be elected at the SCDP annual Convention, which will be held at the Medallion Center in Columbia on Saturday, April 29th. Delegates to the convention will vote for the next chair, as well as the other officer positions.
