FINALLY EMPOWERED TO DO AWAY WITH SOCIALIZED MEDICINE, GOP CANNOT PULL THE TRIGGER …

Republicans in Washington, D.C. finally rolled out a plan to “repeal and replace” Obamacare, but their version of the hated socialized medicine plan is leaving a bad taste in the mouths of conservatives eager to eliminate the onerous entitlement.

In fact some say the proposal introduced by fiscally liberal U.S. Speaker Paul Ryan amounts to “repeal in name only.”

“The bill falls far short of making good on the promise to fully repeal Obamacare and fails to fundamentally change federal control over supply and demand of health care,” noted analyst Chris Jacobs of the Texas Public Policy Foundation.

According to Jacobs’ analysis (.pdf), the GOP plan “fails to repeal most of the costly mandates and insurance regulations driving up premiums and deductibles” and “leaves significant portions of the flawed and costly Medicaid expansion intact.”

In other words it won’t lower skyrocketing premiums.  Or taxpayer costs.

“We’ve got to do better,” U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows of North Carolina said.  “Hopefully with some amendments we can do that. This doesn’t even go as far as we went in 2015.”

That’s the year the GOP Congress repealed Obamacare – only to have former U.S. president Barack Obama preserve the monstrosity with his veto pen.  Republicans lacked the votes to override Obama’s veto, so the law remained in place.

In pushing his plan Obama made a lot of promises – including the infamous “if you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan” lie.  Of course the biggest lie associated with Obamacare was the former president’s oft-repeated promise that it would save the average American family $2,500 per year on their health insurance costs.

That hasn’t happened …

Instead of saving Americans money on health insurance, Obamacare has spiked premiums – one of the reasons the U.S. economy remains stuck in neutral.

This is why repealing Obamacare matters – and why some GOP leaders in Congress are refusing to support the so-called “Republican” repeal – calling it “Obamacare Lite.”

“I want a free-market replacement with more power going back to the individuals,” U.S. Sen. Rand Paul told Fox News on Sunday. “Some Republicans want to keep parts of Obamacare, and I’m not going to vote for that.”

Good for him …

Handed control of the U.S. House in 2011, the U.S. Senate in 2015 and the White House this year, Republicans are officially out of excuses.  Either they repeal Obamacare now, or they are liars just like Obama.
