“SIMPLY CALLING YOURSELF A DEMOCRAT IS NOT ENOUGH”
A leading liberal commentator who served as co-creator of The Daily Show blasted S.C. Democratic Party (SCDP) chairman Jaime Harrison this week.
What for? Being insufficiently loyal to the party he wants to lead.
Harrison appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe this week – presumably as part of his bid to become the next chairman of the scandal-ravaged Democratic National Committee (DNC).
You know … these people.
Apparently Harrison didn’t impress Lizz Winstead, the Minnesota-based liberal activist who – along with Madeleine Smithberg – created and co-wrote Comedy Central’s smash hit.
Sorry Jaimie Harrison, people want candidates who believe in something and will defend it. Simply calling yourself a Democrat is NOT enough.

Winstead went on to bash Harrison as part of the “party of Manchins,” referring to U.S. Senator Joe Manchin of West Virginia, who is reportedly considering switching to the GOP.
Harrison’s response?
“The reality is we are a minority party at this point,” he tweeted. “We don’t get the majority back by kicking out folks out who are not 100 percent.”
Winstead’s criticism of Harrison is evidence of an emerging rift between the liberal base and the establishment wing of the Democratic party. How is that battle going to play out for Democrats?
Harrison is regarded by party insiders as one of the “second tier” candidates for DNC chairman. According to our sources, former U.S. Department of Labor secretary Tom Perez, U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison and South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg are the top three candidates.
