Dear Friend,
I congratulate President Trump on his inauguration. It was my hope that the grandeur of the inauguration events, celebrating the peaceful transfer of power, would inspire him to rise to the presidency and work to advance the interests of all Americans. Regrettably, his dark and divisive speech suggests this will not happen. As Trump’s administration and congressional Republicans pursue policies to benefit their rich cronies and harm everyone else while seeking to distract and divide, Democrats will do everything we can to stop them.
We will also work directly in our communities to assist those put at risk by Trump’s ill-conceived policies. That is beginning today with the South Carolina Democrats Care Day of Service. Democrats are coming together across our state to tutor kids, feed the hungry, collect supplies, and raise funds to preserve, protect, and defend all South Carolinians, even if our new president will not. Our work to strengthen our communities will continue, and we will work each and every day to ensure that this corrupt administration lasts only four years.
I look forward to joining all of you in this fight.
Sincerely,
Jaime Harrison
Chair, South Carolina Democratic Party
