COLUMBIA, S.C. – Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina has named Daniel Brennan as its new state director. A Myrtle Beach native, Daniel has a decade of experience working on congressional, presidential, and statewide campaigns in South Carolina. Daniel brings four years of experience working with the South Carolina General Assembly on legislative and policy initiatives in the executive branch. Most recently, Daniel served as the South Carolina state director for Concerned Veterans for America, a group that focuses on veteran’s issues and seeks to give a voice on policy issues to those who have bravely served our nation.

Brennan has a full agenda for the coming legislative session. At the top of the group’s priority list will be working with legislators to stop any gas tax increase. Instead of asking South Carolinians to pay more at the pump, Brennan believes we should focus on reforming our state’s corrupt transportation system so it is accountable to the citizens. Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina will also be seeking to help pass sustainable, long-term pension reform. Finally, Brennan says the group will educate and partner with legislators to protect the First Amendment in South Carolina.

Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina State Director Daniel Brennan had the following comment:

“I am excited to be taking on this new role with Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina. I want legislators to know that AFP-South Carolina’s staff and volunteers are ready to get involved and partner to create consensus on meaningful reforms for our state, not just engage in more talk. Our goal is to advance economic freedom in the Palmetto State and ensure that every citizen has their shot at the American Dream. I look forward to working with legislators as well as our base of volunteer activists to accomplish as much as possible for our state in 2017.”

Americans for Prosperity CEO Luke Hilgemann also issued the following statement:

“Daniel’s background and experience working with the South Carolina legislature will be crucial to enacting the free-market reforms that South Carolina needs. Under Daniel’s leadership, I have no doubt that Americans for Prosperity-South Carolina is in a better position than ever to shake things up in Columbia. We’re excited to welcome him to the team.”
