“FORTIFYING DIALOGUE”
Two South Carolina State Senators – one a white Republican from the Upstate and the other a black Democrat from the rural Pee Dee region of the state – are hosting a “pivotal bipartisan event” in Anderson, S.C. later this month.
On their agenda? “Race and reconciliation in our communities,” according to the press release for this gathering.
Hmmm. Last time we checked it was 2016. Almost 2017, actually.
Nevertheless … here we go again.
“This event should serve as a model in fortifying dialogue among our communities to find solutions that bring out the best each of our citizens have to offer,” S.C. Senator Kevin Bryant said in announcing the gathering.
Joining Bryant at the event will be S.C. Senator Gerald Malloy, who has been traveling across the state this year as part of a liberal push to expand South Carolina’s gun control laws.

Which brings us to our problem with all of this …
More often than not, these events have less to do with race and more to do with advancing liberal agenda items (usually by invoking guilt among a certain segment of the audience).
Frankly, we’ve had enough of it.
This website has been on the side of “racial reconciliation” before. In fact we were the first media outlet in the state of South Carolina to call for the removal of the Confederate flag from the grounds of the S.C. State House following the horrific, racially motivated murder of nine people in Charleston, S.C. last year.
Of course our view on the flag wasn’t reached because we thought it was racist, or because we thought its supporters were racist (let alone murderously so). We simply felt that it wasn’t appropriate for government to have ever raised the controversial banner the first place … and that its ongoing presence there was needlessly offensive to a broad segment of the population.
Now, though? We’re honestly getting a bit sick of all this “reconciliation” talk.
In fact we’re getting especially sick of people presuming that our desire to safeguard our wallets and our liberties from further government rape is somehow “racist” – when the last time we checked the defense of individual liberty and economic prosperity was something that knew no color, creed, religion or sexual orientation.
Also here’s another key point: We don’t have to like each other.
Sure, all citizens must absolutely respect the life, liberty and property of their fellow citizens, but there is absolutely nothing that says we all have to get along with each other.
Nor should there be any law forcing us to do so …
Anyway, Bryant and Malloy’s event will be held at the Civic Center of Anderson (3027 Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard) on Monday, November 21 at 6:00 p.m. EDT.
