GREENVILLE “GOD COP” REPORTEDLY “RECALIBRATING” STATEWIDE ASPIRATIONS …

S.C. thirteenth circuit solicitor Walt Wilkins – the “God Cop” behind a recent Upstate strip club sting operation – is reportedly “recalibrating” his statewide aspirations in anticipation of the 2018 election cycle.

Wilkins – the nephew of fiscally liberal former S.C. House Speaker David Wilkins – is not only eyeing a bid for governor of South Carolina.  According to our sources, he’s also considering a possible campaign for attorney general – even if it means going up against the chairman of the Greenville County, S.C. “Republican” party, Chad Groover.

Groover has previously expressed an interest in running for this statewide office – as have several other prospective candidates.

The most credible among them?  S.C. Rep. Peter McCoy – a Lowcountry lawmaker and former assistant solicitor who hinted at his interest in the position back in April.

The current attorney general – “Republican” Alan Wilson – saw his once-promising political career implode earlier this year when he engaged in an ill-conceived bid to obstruct an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption at the S.C. State House.

Wilson is said to be running for governor – out of necessity – although according to our sources his bid is going nowhere fast.

South Carolina’s attorney general’s office has basically been a subsidiary of the political consulting empire of neo-Confederate “Republican” strategist Richard Quinn for the last two decades – beginning with former attorney general Charlie Condon and extending through the administrations of Henry McMaster (now South Carolina’s lieutenant governor) and Wilson.
