PAST “UNBORN CHILDREN” COMMENT RAISES EYEBROWS …
We knew S.C. Rep. Chip Limehouse was a man of vast appetites … but is he about to eat his own words?
Last year, as the battle raged over funding for government-subsidized abortion provider Planned Parenthood, the fiscally liberal “Republican” gave an interview to The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier in which he offered up an interesting quote.
“Right now in this country, I think we need to put more emphasis on the lives of unborn children and less on lions and the rights of convicted mass murders,” the soon-to-be former lawmaker told reporter Cynthia Roldan.
Lions? Oh right. Cecil the Lion.
Anyway, we agree with Limehouse … the Planned Parenthood fetal body parts scandal remains one of the most disturbing stories we’ve ever covered, and the fact taxpayers remain on the hook for funding this organization is downright despicable.
Limehouse’s words are now being taken in a different context, however.
In fact, some are viewing his “unborn children” comment as highly hypocritical given what’s being alleged in connection with his contentious divorce case.
We’ve written previously on this situation (most recently here), but the gist of it is that Limehouse’s looming divorce – assuming it comes off – has allegedly uncovered some serious “baby momma drama.”
As in rumors of a possible out-of-wedlock pregnancy …
Are the rumors true? Well, we can’t read any of the case files because they have been sealed – yet another example of the preferential treatment received by those in power in the Palmetto State.
The only thing on the public record at this point is that earlier this year Limehouse’s wife, Susan Limehouse, filed for divorce against him.
Earlier this month, though, we were forwarded a Facebook post in which a woman who is alleged to have been romantically involved with Limehouse in the past wrote that “the father of my child just informed me … that I have to be out of my home by the end of the month.”
A screen cap of this message was tweeted by our founding editor Will Folks.
We have repeatedly attempted to confirm details of the woman’s proximity to Limehouse – however she has declined to cooperate with our investigation (which doesn’t surprise us).
“I’m not going to discuss my child,” the woman told us.
Another message politely informed us not to contact her again.
Sources close to the woman have also asked us not to contact her about the situation, saying she is a very private person who has been placed in a very difficult situation by a “bully.”
We respect that … which is one reason we have declined to name the woman or publish any identifying information about her.
None of these sources would confirm the identity of the child’s father – however one source did reference the need for him to be exposed, specifically referring to the “facade of being a true southern gentleman that he takes pride in.”
We reached out to Limehouse seeking comment on all of this but he did not immediately respond to our questions. Again, not surprising.
Stay tuned … sounds like this South Carolina soap opera is seriously heating up!
