DATABASE PROBLEM RESOLVED …
The University of South Carolina athletics department has taken steps to resolve a database error that occurred in mailing out several hundred season tickets for Gamecock football.
First, here’s a copy of a letter we were forwarded this week …

Upon receiving this letter, several of our sources were initially worried it might be a hoax – or that the Gamecock athletics department had been hacked.
Turns out the letter is legitimate.
According to an athletics department spokesman, a computer glitch occurred which impacted approximately 200 accounts (out of 15,000 associated with this particular mailing). When the error was discovered, tickets were reprinted and sent to the correct addresses – with the letter.
“A scalper’s wet dream,” one source told us.
Indeed … although it looks as though the problem is limited and the school took quick action to address it.
South Carolina is still offering tickets for its 2016 slate of home games – which kicks off on September 17 against East Carolina. The Gamecocks drew 78,822 fans per home football game in 2015 – well below 2014’s average of 81,381 fans or 2013’s average of 82,401.
