LOWCOUNTRY’S “AMOROUS DANCE” STUDIO HEATS THINGS UP …
Last week our founding editor Will Folks did a post on the world’s best pole dancer, Ukrainian goddess Anastasia Sokolova.
Oh, and before anyone accuses him of excessive prurience (too late!), the topic was actually suggested by his wife – who referenced the artistic merits and health benefits of pole dancing.
(Obviously that went in one ear and out the other).
Nonetheless, pole dancing is emerging as an increasingly popular form of artistic expression, individual empowerment and calorie-burning exercise – one many women are trying in an effort to improve their self-esteem and (of course) their bodies.
For many other women, pole dancing is also an honest way to make a living (assuming the sanctimonious “God Cops” don’t come kicking in the door).
In Charleston, S.C., Faith LePrince is a happily married mom and successful small business owner who pole dances as a “passion.” In fact she’s so hooked on it she has a pole installed in her home.
LePrince is our cover girl for this story (see pic above), as well as the subject of a positively sizzling photo shoot from one of our favorite Lowcountry artists Abigail Marie (who happens to be an accomplished pole dancer herself).

Prior to publishing, we asked LePrince if posting her pole pics would get us in trouble with her husband – an accomplished local artist in Charleston.
Lucky for us (and for you), the answer was “no.”
“I had only one deal breaker, and pole was it,” she told us. “It’s my passion!”
LePrince is one of many Lowcountry women affiliated with Amorous Dance, a Charleston, S.C.-based studio run by local entrepreneur Tanya Christopher.
In fact as we write this, LePrince and Christopher are in Las Vegas, Nevada participating in the 2016 Pole Expo at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.
Christopher and her instructors are in Vegas to teach, while her students are there to compete and attend classes and workshops.
Here’s a pic of Christopher …

“Why join Amorous? Because you love yourself!” Amorous Dance’s website states, adding that pole dancing is “for fitness, for fun (and) for life.”
“Everyone supports each other,” one aspiring dancer said of the clients and instructors at the studio. “Efforts, achievements and participation are recognized and celebrated.”
Interested in checking out Amorous Dance for yourself? Drop by the studio (1706 Old Towne Road, Charleston S.C. 29407) or give them a call (843-819-DIVA). And if Amorous isn’t the right fit for you, there are several other pole dancing studios in the Lowcountry you can check out.
“Pole is thriving in Charleston,” one enthusiast noted.
Indeed it is …
Anyway, as part of our effort to report on more “good news” in the Palmetto State, look for future posts on local small businesses (not just the ones that involve drop dead gorgeous women teaching others how to move their bodies in jaw-dropping ways).
