SOUTH CAROLINA FALLS TO CLEMSON BUT SETS NEW ATTENDANCE RECORD …
The third-ranked Clemson University men’s soccer team escaped Stone Stadium in Columbia, S.C. this weekend with a 2-1 win over its arch-rival, No. 24 South Carolina.
The Tigers (1-0) were outshot 13-6 but managed to hold off the Gamecocks thanks to several clutch saves from sophomore goalkeeper Ximo Miralles.
Miralles biggest stop? Keeping sophomore forward Bjorn Gudjonsson from finding the back of the net on a breakaway chance in the game’s 51st minute.
The news wasn’t all bad for head coach Mark Berson‘s team, though. Attendance at Friday night’s game was 6,892 – a new stadium record.
