MORE DRAMA WITH IRAN …
Less that a day after four ships from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) harassed an American destroyer in the Strait of Hormuz, another U.S. military vessel was subjected to an even closer call in the Persian Gulf.
This time, shots were fired …
The USS Squall, a Cyclone class patrol ship, fired three warning shots into the water after the Iranian vessels came within 200 yards and ignored multiple warnings, according to military officials who spoke with CNN.
Good for this patrol boat …
In fact, next time don’t fire in the water when warnings are ignored!
We don’t think American military assets should be deployed in the Persian Gulf (imagine if Iran sent ships to patrol the Chesapeake Bay), but whatever your view of our nation’s presence in these waters – threatening actions against any U.S.-flagged vessel should never be tolerated.
This week’s incidents involving aggressive Iranian naval action took place less than a week after the American government effectively admitted paying ransom for hostages held in Iran.
Seriously: What did our leaders think was going to happen?
Clearly negotiating with terrorists has only enhanced their appetite. And if you think Iran’s IRGC isn’t a terrorist group, consider its Persian name – “Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution.”
