SECOND AMENDMENT COMMENT CAUSES ANOTHER UPROAR …
GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump has caused yet another furor on the campaign trail – suggesting that “Second Amendment people” were the only thing capable of stopping Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton from packing federal courts with liberal judges.
“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Trump told a crowd in Wilmington, North Carolina. “If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is … I don’t know.”
Trump’s campaign moved quickly to clarify the meaning of his remark – a statement in couched as a response to the “dishonest media.”
“It’s called the power of unification – Second Amendment people have amazing spirit and are tremendously unified, which gives them great political power,” a Trump spokesperson said. “And this year, they will be voting in record numbers, and it won’t be for Hillary Clinton, it will be for Donald Trump.”
Actually it seems pretty obvious to us that Trump – who has aggressively supported the Second Amendment – was making a joke.
Liberals didn’t find it funny, though …
“Forget normal political hyperbole,” South Carolina Democratic operative Tyler Jones tweeted. “This is legitimately disqualifying.”
