NASTY VIRUS HITS GOP CONVENTION
Several members of California’s advance team to the “Republican” national convention in Cleveland, Ohio have been hit with what appears to be a particularly nasty strain of Norovirus.
According to STAT News, nearly a dozen delegates have been quarantined in their resort in effort to keep the highly-contagious bug from spreading.
“We’ve got about eleven who have been sick over the last few days, and we’ve been out there every day and working with them to eliminate the spread (between) the resort and the delegation from California,” Peter Schade, an Erie County health official.
Yikes …
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says Norovirus “causes your stomach or intestines or both to get inflamed.”
“This leads you to have stomach pain, nausea, and diarrhea and to throw up,” the agency added.
The virus – best known for causing problems on cruise ships – is usually spread through food, infected surfaces or direct contact with an infected person. It takes about three days to run its course.
