“COP GONE WILD” GETS OFF EASY

A captain with the Laurens, S.C. police department has received a three-day suspension after he allegedly hurled racial slurs at a bar, got into a physical altercation with his wife and drove drunk.

For those of you who missed that episode of “Cops Gone Wild,” here you go …

According to GoLaurens.com, captain Scott Satterfield was suspended without pay for three days in the aftermath of the incident – which took place while in late June he was on vacation with family and friends in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

That’s right … three days.

According to the paper, Satterfield’s suspension began on Thursday, July 14 and ended on Monday, July 18.   The Laurens police department said Satterfield’s only indiscretion was  “fraternizing with subordinates” during the trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Hold up … that’s it? “Fraternizing with subordinates?”

What about the alleged slurs, physical altercation and drunk driving?

“The internal investigation was unable to sustain any evidence to support the purported racial slur uttered, any impaired driving or any claim of domestic violence,” the paper reported.

Wow …

“Glad to know they hold them to such a high standard,” one local law enforcement officer sarcastically told us.

Yeah …

Multiple witnesses provided statements to the Laurens police department detailing Satterfield’s alleged conduct – all of them attesting to his repeated use of the “N-word” and to his driving while intoxicated.

Not only that, Satterfield’s fellow officers warned police in Myrtle Beach to the fact that their colleague was driving drunk – making multiple 911 calls to Horry County law enforcement, according to reporter Brianna Smith of WSPA TV 7 (CBS – Greenville/ Spartanburg, S.C.).

Still, Satterfield barely got a slap on the wrist.  In fact his police chief – Sonny Ledda – praised him.

“The selfless and devoted service you have provided to the men and women of this department and our community for the past twelve years is to be highly commended,” he said.  “Your unblemished record is an example for the men and women in your charge.”
