TEXAS STUDENT IMPREGNATED BY HER 13-YEAR-OLD STUDENT
Sex scandals involving teachers and students have become commonplace in America. Our rubbernecking nation needs them … and media outlets like ours feed that addiction.
For better or worse.
We’ve even been compelled to adopt an editorial position on these scandals: Namely that teachers who have sex with students should be fired, but that such behavior shouldn’t be criminalized in those instances in which both the teacher and student are of consenting age.
Who isn’t of consenting age, though?
The as-yet-unnamed 13-year-old student who is currently involved in a romantic relationship with his 24-year-old English teacher, Alexandria Vera.
Vera turned herself in to Montgomery County, Texas police this week after a warrant was issued for her arrest on charges of the “continuous sexual abuse of a child.”
According to the officer who interviewed Vera, she stated that she and the teen first met during the summer of 2015. He attempted to flirt with her, but she claims she rebuffed his advances.
In the fall of 2015, the student was placed in Vera’s middle school class – where he continued to “flirt with her and say inappropriate things to her.”
Vera says she again discouraged the teen, but he persisted.
Eventually she claims to have connected with him over Instagram when he failed to show up for class. At this point, teacher and student exchanged numbers and began interacting directly with each other – and within two days of corresponding, they began a sexual relationship.
Ho-hum, right?
Wait … it gets crazier.

A few weeks after this sexual relationship began, the teen introduced Vera to his parents as his “girlfriend.” Astounding, his parents not only didn’t object to the relationship – or report it to the school or law enforcement – Vera claims they “were accepting” of it and even invited her to family gatherings.
Wow.
With the teen’s parents lending their Good Housekeeping seal, the two lovers “had sex on an almost daily basis.”
Anybody wanna guess what happened next?
In January of this year, Vera – who already has a five-year-old daughter – became pregnant with the teen’s child.
“She stated that his family was told of the pregnancy, and they were very supportive and excited about the baby,” police stated.
Unfortunately, Vera ultimately decided to have an abortion because she was “nervous” people were about to find out about her illicit relationship – which she and the student apparently didn’t do much to conceal.
“(He) like grabbed her butt and everybody saw it,” one student told KTRK TV 13 (ABC – Houston). “And then they were talking about it.”

Vera was removed from her teaching position in April when the allegation of her affair first reached school administrators.
She’s currently out on $100,000 bond, but she’s facing some serious time behind bars if convicted. In fact one of the felony sexual abuse charges she’s facing carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of 25 years.
Vera’s case has drawn parallels to the story of Mary Kay Letourneau, a married 36-year-old Washington State teacher who had a sexual relationship with her 12-year-old student, Vili Fualaau.
Letourneau, now 54, married Faulaau in 2005 after spending eight years in prison. They remain married to this day and have two children together.

I was going to this school as it was happening, different grade though. By the end it was so obvious the whole school knew, they were practically living together and every guy there was insanely jealous of him. That boy was such a chad, he was hooking up with high school girls when he was 12. That’s why his parents were so accepting, they were used to him bringing home 17yo girls so a 24yo teacher didn’t seem like that big a jump.
