ASK SOUTH CAROLINA “REPUBLICANS”
A month ago, the South Carolina “Republican” party’s state convention was expected to be the focal point of all sorts of intrigue regarding the seating of delegates for this summer’s national convention in Cleveland, Ohio.
Of course that was before presumptive GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump embarked on his late surge – effectively ending the “Republican” establishment’s dream of denying him the party’s nomination.
As a result, the SCGOP’s convention doesn’t seem to be the focal point of much of anything …
“I’ve been to livelier and more optimistic wakes,” Republican consultant Andrew Boucher wrote on Facebook.
Ha!
According to Boucher, turnout at the convention was only 57 percent – “even after alternate (delegates) were seated.” Meanwhile on Twitter, delegates who did bother to show up bemoaned all the “empty seats.”
“Do your job!” one delegate tweeted. “Show up.”
LOL, SCGOP. LOL.
Meanwhile, a decision by SCGOP chairman Matt Moore to hang a Trump banner at the convention enraged supporters of U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas.

“It’s pretty presumptive and obnoxious for the SCGOP to hang a massive Trump banner in the main hall of the convention when Trump hasn’t even been nominated yet,” Cruz supporter Javon Browder wrote on his Facebook page.
