POLITICS AND POT …
Spartanburg, S.C. sheriff Chuck Wright held his annual “Rolling Fascism” law enforcement blitz several months ahead of schedule this year.
Why the ramp-up in timing? Easy: Wright is facing a challenger in this spring’s “Republican” primary election and wanted to burnish his “tough on crime” credentials before voters head to the polls.
Gotta love taxpayer-funded campaigning …
Wright’s efforts this go-round netted thirty arrests, 120 pounds of marijuana and $41,000 in cash – lower-than-expected totals. Previous “Rolling Fascism” exercises have yielded more than $100,000 in cash.
Oh well … at least no one was murdered over a dime bag.
Wright’s failure to put up big “war on drug” numbers was offset, though, by a flood of uniform traffic tickets – depriving our state’s dirt poor motorists of even more of their money.
“Hundreds of tickets were written, citing drivers for speeding, following too closely, improper lane changes, driving left of center, and several other traffic infractions,” the website Fox Carolina reported.
Jeez …
Let’s hope every single person ticketed during this “blitz” tells ten of their friends to vote Wright out of office …
