GOVERNOR, LOCAL SHERIFF AT ODDS OVER DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PLEDGE …

S.C. governor Nikki Haley and Richland County, S.C. sheriff Leon Lott are bickering with each other again … this time over the governor’s anti-domestic violence pledge.

(You know, because “Republicans” in South Carolina are so tough on that issue).

At issue?  Whether Lott signed Haley’s pledge.  He says he did, Haley says he didn’t … in fact, at a State House press conference this week she brought along a map of South Carolina that had every county shaded except Richland.

“There is one sheriff in the state of South Carolina that does not seem to think any rules apply to him,” Haley said at her press event.  “It’s unfortunate Sheriff Lott was the only one that did not sign the pledge.”

Lott – who is facing Democratic primary opposition – says Haley isn’t telling the truth.

“It’s a shame politics is being interjected into public safety,” he told The (Columbia, S.C.) State newspaper.

Jeez … so petty.  All of it.

The real issue here?  Lott’s 2014 endorsement of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Vincent Sheheen.  Clearly, Haley has yet to forgive him for it …

Since flaming out spectacularly on the national stage (and capably assisting in the implosion of the GOP establishment’s 2016 presidential candidate of choice), Haley has waded back into Palmetto politics in recent weeks … with a vengeance.

Is that a good thing for her?

Eh …
