COULD BEAUFORT HOST THE PALMETTO STATE’S NEXT REALITY TV DRAMA?
Three years ago, this website first reported on a new reality television show coming to South Carolina …
Its name? Southern Charm.
Today the Charleston, S.C.-based show is a fixture on Bravo TV, and its warring protagonists – 53-year-old playboy/ ex-politician Thomas Ravenel and his 24-year-old Kathryn Dennis – are national celebrities.

This week, sources tell us the picturesque South Carolina Lowcountry could soon serve as the backdrop for another reality television show – one that’s being described to us as “higher brow but more risqué” than Southern Charm.
Little is known at this point about the rumored program … but we’re told reality television executives have already interviewed at least one of the proposed stars, and that the city of Beaufort, S.C. would likely serve as at least one of the backdrops for the drama.
Hmmmm …
One of the show’s rumored stars is said to be an “extremely attractive female doctor” who lives in Beaufort, but our source declined to divulge any further details about her for fear of prematurely revealing the program’s “winning” premise.
“Coming up with the right formula for a show like this – that’s the trick,” our source said. “That’s what makes the winners – and this one is a winner. This one has a winning premise.”
Southern Charm has certainly done exceedingly well for itself (its 2015 season finale drew 1.7 million viewers). And while the program prompts eye rolls from native South Carolinians, it has certainly showcased the beauty of Charleston (and its surrounding areas) to a national audience.
Could this be Beaufort’s time to shine?
Stay tuned …
