RUMORS OF SUPPORT FOR ESTABLISHMENT “REPUBLICAN” PAUL RYAN

This website has never cared much for billionaire industrialists Charles G. Koch and David H. Koch (a.k.a. the “Koch brothers”).  We don’t hate them – and at times their political movement gets it right – but we’re smart enough to see them for what they are: Wealthy power brokers who are looking out for their own narrow economic interests.

That’s fine.  They’ve got lots of wealth … and lots of power.  And lots of economic interests.

Unlike a lot of “conservative” websites, we’ve been unafraid to criticize the Kochs and their political movement, Americans for Prosperity … (here and here).  As a result, we’ve earned the “silent treatment” from AFP’s South Carolina-based movement (even though we’re ostensibly on the same side of many issues).

Ostensibly …

Anyway, this article isn’t about the Kochs’ involvement in South Carolina … its about their involvement in the “Republican” presidential battle.

Last summer, the Kochs were at war with the Republican establishment.  This year?  They appear to be gravitating toward the GOP status quo … at least that’s the takeaway from a report in Huffington Post.

From that report …

Charles Koch is confident House Speaker Paul Ryan could emerge from the Republican National Convention as the party’s nominee if Donald Trump comes up at least 100 delegates shy, he has told friends privately.

Koch believes Ryan would be a “shoo-in” at a contested convention, should the campaign get to that point.

Interesting …

Is it true, though?  An attorney for the Kochs denied the report, calling it “absolutely false.”

Of course if the Kochs were actively participating in the great establishment push to keep Donald Trump from getting the GOP nomination, our guess is they probably wouldn’t advertise it.

Our view on this ongoing civil war?  We love it …

Not only has Trump’s insurgency exposed the hypocrisy of the GOP establishment … it’s exposed the ideological bankruptcy of the chattering class.

“…Not only has Trump’s insurgency exposed the hypocrisy of the GOP establishment … it’s exposed the ideological bankruptcy of the chattering class…” while simultaneously exposing the complete lack of any well thought out positions on the part of Mr. Trump.

There, fixed it for you!

On both sides they are all screwing with the electorate, trying to talk them into kicking the ball only to yank it away at the last second. For me, I will pick the Lucy with the elaborate comb over as the other ones have proven themselves to be liars time and time again. Who knows, the SOB may actually let you kick the ball.

Well even though Cruz is a SOB he does have as one of his main plans is a flat tax (which is my ONLY soap box – along with a national sales tax coupled with a flat tax that is….)
That alone is motivation for me to vote for him over that obnoxious draft avoiding Mussolini clone lying sack of shit Donald Trump……

I have been disturbed by Trump’s complete lack of knowledge and irrational statements made in recent interviews. I have read the Bob Woodward/ Bob Costa interview in its entirety.

Examples:
1. We are in a huge stock market bubble that will cause a major recession.
2. In spite of the recession, I can eliminate the 19 trillion dollar deficit in eight years.
3. If Japan goes nuclear they will beat North Korea, as if a nuclear war is OK.

Beyond the rediculous possitions, I have noticed a childlike naivete to his responses. He talks about Lincoln as if he is a elementary student who has not prepared for a test. What he says about Lincoln are generalizations that they could be said about anyone.

“Well, I think Lincoln succeeded for numerous reasons. He was a man who was of great intelligence, which most presidents would be. But he was a man of great intelligence, but he was also a man that did something that was a very vital thing to do at that time. Ten years before or 20 years before, what he was doing would never have even been thought possible. So he did something that was a very important thing to do, and especially at that time.”

The way Trump talks about Vince Lombardi and his conception of power is juvenile.

“The coalition building for me will be when I win. Vince Lombardi, I saw this. He was not a big man. And I was sitting in a place with some very, very tough football players. Big, strong football players. He came in — these are tough cookies — he came in, years ago — and I’ll never forget it, I was a young man. He came in, screaming, into this place. And screaming at one of these guys who was three times bigger than him, literally. And very physical, grabbing him by the shirt. Now, this guy could’ve whisked him away and thrown him out the window in two seconds. This guy — the player — was shaking. A friend of mine. There were four players, and Vince Lombardi walked in. He was angry. And he grabbed — I was a young guy — he grabbed him by the shirt, screaming at him, and the guy was literally. . . . And I said, wow. And I realized the only way Vince Lombardi got away with that was because he won. This was after he had won so much, okay? And when you have these coaches that are just as tough as him but they don’t win, there’s revolutions. Okay? Nobody. . . . But Vince Lombardi was able to win, and he got — I have never seen anything like it. It was such a vivid impression. You had this big powerful guy, and you had Vince Lombardi, and he grabbed him by the shirt and he was screaming at him, he was angry at him.”

That’s how he plans to bring the party and the country together after he wins? Screaming and grabbing their shirts…

So BT now that all those establishment Koch suckers have gone down in flames. Who are you supporting, Canadian Cruz? The guy who thinks god anointed him King of America. The professional politician who has never done a thing in his life except suck taxpayer dollars. The guy who wants to be a Koch sucker but even they could not stomach him. The guy who everyone who has ever worked with him hates. The guy whose college roommate said he was creepy and that he would vote for a person off the street before he would vote for Cruz. The guy who will not even use his real name.
Or were you hoping the Kochs would win and install another establishment puppet.

I thought you thought Trump was generally clueless. If so, how can he be so dangerous, or is it that he is a danger to the highly corrupt Republican establishment which you appear to hold so near and dear?

Bible Thumper April 5, 2016 at 11:23 am

Yes, I’ve done Ok under the corrupt Republican establishment.

That’s kinda what I figured, BT. At least I have to give you points for being honest about it.

Respectability and morality aren’t the same thing. The GOPe only concerned themselves with trying to appear respectible on their positions while consistently losing and caving on positions advocated by the left. It’s much easier to take soft “respectible” positions than to be firm and unrelenting with moral issues which promote the well being of native citizens of the country they claim to serve.

Sounds good, tastes great – however, it ain’t filling. Even his “hard issues” are poorly considered. NATO is obsolete?!? In a time of Russian resurgence?

NATO is obsolete. Putin is the only one with sanity in Europe. He isn’t flooding his country with third world goatfuckers and he is actually doing something about ISIS and maintaining alliance with Assad who is one of the last nationalist strong men in the Middle East not actually killing Christians.

The Kochs own the GOP. They are the leaders of the donor class. They are so powerful the summoned the Republican candidates to take time out of their campaign, fly to California and interview with them for the job of President. Most of them answered the summons and went to California to kneel and kiss the feet of Koch.
Trump was not among that group, Cruz was. The Kochs did not get who they wanted, so now they intend to install who they want anyway. That tells you all you need to know. We need to clean the party of these puppet masters. We need someone who is not just a Koch employee. We need to show them they can no longer just buy the election and hire a President to work for them.

Unfortunately, the only way to deal with the power of the Kochs and others like them on both sides is public financing of elections. You are seeing the GOP establishment freak out because the moneyed interests haven’t been able to control the process here. While that seems like good news Trump will never be the GOP nominee. Never going to happen. They simply can’t let it happen.

I don’t know. Both Sanders and Trump have shown you can raise a lot of money without these guys. We need to get big money out of politics. We need to repeal Citizens United. We need strict limitations on how much people can contribute. We need all contributions to be public, full transparency. We need term limits; we need to ban Senators, Representatives, and staff from working for lobbyist. We need a law that says that any Senator or Congressmen that serves on a committee that deals with military appropriations can never work for a defense contractor or accept contributions from a defense contractor. These are just a start. But a good start.

Number 1: Fuck that obnoxious cowardly draft-avoiding lying sack of shit Donald Trump……………..
Number 2: The Koch Brothers got burned fronting Scott Walker for prez (and have admitted doing so…). One of the Koch brothers publically stated on one of the cable/satellite TV news networks they were going to pull back on “power brokering”/ fronting candidates for political office (I remember watching one of them being interviewed but not which brother it was or which cable/satellite TV news show it was on) So I think that won’t happen. The Koch Brothers have more money and resources than Trump can dream of and could whip Trump’s ass any time they choose to but so far NADA.

The GOP needs that $800M+ in Koch money. The Kochs don’t like other rich guys sticking their dicks in the peanut butter… especially Trump.
It must be nice to have that much money to control the election.

One of my old professors refused to say “Civil War,” but would simply call it “the war between the states” or “the war of northern aggression.”

Thus, would the “GOP Civil War” be more accurately called “the war of establishment aggression?”
