Polling on the questions suggesting that Romney’s had the opposite effect and actually helped Trump are notoriously wrong. There is plenty of evidence that advertising effects peoples buying decisions positively, but when poled they will claim the opposite.
People want to answer poll questions in a way that is socially approved. They don’t want to admit that others have influence over them. Endorsements are always underrated by polls.
Trump will probably do well tonight because of the open primaries, but not as well on the 15th, when the primaries are only open to Republicans.
BUT when the advertising is from an undesirable source (such as the RNC at this point), it DOES tend to gel opinion. We HATE the GOPe at this point, so when they attack Trump it’s a sympathetic response (enemy of my enemy is my ally). You’re losing power, and you can’t understand why. Pathetic.
