“THE TRUMP MOVEMENT IS HERE TO STAY”
Dear SCGOP Executive Committee Members:
I have sent a letter expressing my feelings of what I think is happening in our nation and the GOP. I thought I should write my feelings as to how someone who had once been a staunch member of the party and an employee of Senator Lindsey Graham could now be a supporter of Donald Trump and no longer a member of the party. Some of you know me and know my previous involvement. For those that don’t let’s just say I was very involved on many levels.
I began this campaign supporting my former boss and serving on his leadership committee. This all changed for me and many others in SC when Nikki Haley removed the flag. I, for one, wanted it left where it was as I thought it reflected my heritage and history but putting that aside let me tell you exactly how it was perceived by me and again others.
Watching this evolve I saw leaders saying one day it reflected our heritage and the next day standing at a podium with not only our leaders but SCGOP leaders and RNC officials. And of course the next day the legislature was rushed into completing the deal. I am 68 years old and as I said very involved but for the first time what I always knew hit me like a ton of bricks. Not only was I furious I was very sad. Before you jump to any conclusions about the flag let me say even though I didn’t want it down the eye opener to me is the manner in which it was handled, with outsiders showing up that had no business being there. It is also what I perceived as what is happening in this nation.
What I and others saw was the RNC and establishment sending an edict to take the flag down so that we could be more inclusive as a party. They also said we don’t care what people in South Carolina think we are bigger and better then you and we will do it no matter what. It also told me that there are elite donors who are in charge and the establishment politicians take their orders so that they can receive money as well as power and control. In the meantime, as happened in South Carolina, we the people had little or no voice as we were the peons and insignificant.
Immediately I wrote to Lindsey’s campaign and asked to be removed from the leadership team and called the Trump campaign and asked to be on his leadership team. I also sent a hefty check. Trump represents we the people, the forgotten ones who are expected to show up and vote for the anointed ones. This year that will not happen. Trump supporters will not vote for establishment candidate and vice versa. The GOP winning depends on crossover democrats and independents. I for one think that Trump is the only one that can accomplish this.
As to the GOP I am ashamed of the party I once loved and the treatment Trump has received from it. He has accomplished what the party has tried to do for years but has failed. Trump is bringing in new voters from all races, economic status and educational levels. But as a party by rebuffing Trump you rebuff his supporters. Why would we go vote for you when you have treated us as inferiors and stupid?
So you say if we don’t vote for your candidate, Hillary Clinton will win. To most Trump supporters we see no difference between your candidate and Hillary. What have Republicans accomplished that they promised in 2012? Absolutely nothing. I know your comeback but that is pandering, they didn’t even try.
As a party you have an opportunity as never before and you are squandering it. We know why you are so desperate. A Trump presidency will take away all the perks, the money, the power and the control and that is a bitter pill for an establishment that has profited off of the back of we the people for way too long.
I think we are experiencing something that needs to happen not only for the country but for the party. Our country is a mess and the parties are in shambles. The good thing is many who have felt they had no say are now finding their voice. More people are involved and more people are informed. This can be a good thing if we have the leadership to harness this phenomena and bring it together for the good of the nation and parties. I personally think that man is Trump as he has done just this for many years. However you think, I believe all this can be good if placed in the right hands.
I know that some reading this are the establishment. You think I have lost my way. I was once one of you but I woke up. I believe in the people of this country who go to work each day, who raise a family, pay their taxes and try to be good Americans. Well they are tired and they want a change. They want to be heard. The days of pandering career politicians promising all but never delivering are all over. And until you as a party get that you are finished.
This is the Trump movement and it is here to stay. It is now a way of life and one you need to embrace. I have never been more at peace with my choice. I want to make America great again as many who are turning out for Trump at events and at the voting booth. You can too if you will include him in your tent and treat him and his supporters with some respect.

When significant GOP personalities begin their either/or in favor of Hillary over Trump, the time has come to let Darwin sort out this mess. Law of the Jungle rules apply. If the flag were still up would you be on Trump’s team. It took a flag for you to realize that the Republican Party left oh so many of us. Many of us have known long before the flag came down we didn’t leave the Republican Party, the Republican Party left us.

Basically, Ms. Chapman is voting for the candidate because he is at odds with Nikki Haley for removing the Confederate flag. How juvenile!
I would suggest Ms. Chapman get over her hurt feelings about the flag and realize she is voting for someone who will potentially appoint 3 Supreme Court Justices; Be able to use Executive Order on a whim; Be ultimately responsible for our National Security; Be a powerful force for our National Debt; and have the power to ensue unreasonable gun control measures.
And you would trust Rubio or Cruz with any of that. What a joke!!. Two professional politicians who have never done anything but live on the back of the Taxpayers. One a religious nut whose father thinks god anointed him to be “King” and the other an inexperienced nobody, who freezes and panics whenever he is under stress and who has been bought and paid for by the Koch brothers. Remember that little trip he took to California when summoned by the Koch’s to come and kiss their feet.

My cousin Susan and I strongly disagree on Trump, and on a couple of other issues like the rebel flag — but altogether she is a fine person and solid citizen.
I don’t understand why Chapman isn’t a Democrat. The Republicans took the flag down in 1865. The Democrats put it back up in the 1960’s. The Republicans took it back down.
I don’t think many people care what you think.
You do know that Democrats held every seat in the legislature when that 1962 vote was taken, right? You also know that those conservative Democrats are now Republicans, right?
If you didn’t you don’t know much about politics.
You do know that some Republicans were never Democrats and that former Democrats who voted to put the flag up, voted to take it down as Republicans.
You also know the most Democrats including several black Democrats voted to move the Confederate flag to the Confederate monument at the capital.
Last summer’s events, including the removal of the flag, rose above political party. That, in th end, was what made it such an important moment in our State’s history.
It does not matter who put it up. Republicans have kept it up. As for several black Democrats voted to move it, you know that is because they were told that was the only thing the Republican leadership would accept. Either move it or it stays on top of the State House.
Only since the KKK started openly supporting Trump has the GOP disavowed its southern racists. If they had supported Cruz, you guys would have said nothing, or brushed it off as what can Cruz do about who supports him.
Yeah, it does matter who put it up, and it matters why they did it. All of this matters because historic truth matter. But screw the partisanship side of it, as far as the here and now is concerned. It was time for it to come down. Robert E. Lee said to furl the flag forever. Everyone should have taken the hint. The lost cause was lost, long ago, Lee knew that better than anyone — and it is dishonor to a great general and statesman not to heed his words, which were aimed at healing the nation.

A nicely worded letter, but I think some facts should be set straight. First of all, that flag was never put atop the State House (and later moved to the entrance to the State House grounds) as a way to honor any heritage related to the Civil War. It was placed there and remained there as a demonstration against the effort of equal rights for black South Carolinians. So from the first day, it was a symbol that suggested a significant portion of our citizens did NOT deserve the equal rights provided to all under the US Constitution.
Secondly, the decision to remove that flag was not made by out-of-state people and the RNC. To refresh your memory, the series of events went like this: 1) a lunatic, wrapped in the Confederate Flag and racism, gunned down 9 people in a historic Charleston church, including a beloved State Senator. 2) Senate leader Tom Davis, on the first day the Senate reconvened, with Senator Pinkney’s chair bathed in black cloth, left the State House to return home. 3) Davis, deeply hurt by the attack, and the lose of a friend, noticed upon leaving the office that the “rag” wasn’t even lowered to half mast, despite every other flag in the state dipped to show respect for the victims. 4) Davis, not Nikki, then began over the weekend an effort to rally his collegues in the legislature, both Dems and Republicans, to remove that flag from the State House.
It was the right thing to do. Your decision to back Donald Trump is fine and good, but to connect that “rag” that flew for 50 years in the face of black South Carolinians as a demonstration against their own rights, with your support for Mr. Trump, is either an afront, or, a greater demonstration of the racism that propels Mr. Trump’s candidacy.
Mitt Romney is going to deliver a speech, how many times can the GOP shoot them self in the foot?
No, we’re past shooting in the foot. This is the beginning of the Empire Strkes back. They will throw this election to get Trump out. They will throw out these rabble rousers. This is a historic cross roads for the party. Move to the future – an inclusive, expanding party, or go back to the past with Trump. Either return to the days of Wallace, or move to a new party platform and set of priorities based on governing. It’s going to be an epic battle, but one that must be fought. They’ve allowed this cancer to linger too long.

Primaries have and will always be contentious. I have always
respected anyone’s choice as to which candidate they were supporting and
for the most part they have respected mine. No name calling, no
character assassination nor anyone’s sanity being questioned.
In the end when “We the People”, the voters have spoken, we come back together and supported the voter’s nominee.
Not so this campaign season. Things have taken a nastier turn in this political race. It is no longer the voter’s choice…it is now the Party’s choice. The Party who dictates the nominee and the Party decides who will get its support and its funding.
What I have always seen in the Democrat party; the determination to maintain control and stay in power no matter what, I now find in GOP “powers at be”. You are either
with them or you are the enemy. Your thoughts, words, your actions and yes, even your sanity are now in question.
So much for the “BIG TENT” all-inclusiveness, broadness in scope of the Republican Party. It is now “We Know Best” and the NEW slogan is “MY WAY OR NO WAY.”
