“APPLE CART” TO LAUNCH IN ADVANCE OF 2016 ELECTIONS

An Horry County, S.C.-based political consultant is launching a new independent expenditure group – one he says will “unseat sitting (state) lawmakers with more than two terms in the same office or those who have not watched out for the best interest of the taxpayer.”

Jay Specter – a controversial local figure who has supported his share of establishment politicos – calls his new organization The Apple Cart.  He says the group will begin soliciting contributions immediately with an eye on playing a role in the upcoming S.C. State House elections.

“It is time we returned our cities, counties and state government to the citizen legislature instead of professional politicians,” Specter told us.

All 170 members of the S.C. General Assembly are up for reelection in 2016, although as our intrepid guest columnist Emily Conrad recently pointed out – very few of them will wind up facing anything resembling a credible challenge.

Specter says he hopes to change that …

“I believe we need to fix county government and state government before we can fix Washington, D.C.,” he said.

Specter is closely affiliated with former two-term S.C. lieutenant governor André Bauer, who could be eying a return to politics in the coming year.  He said Bauer was “not involved in the organization,” although he said he would seek Bauer’s advice “from time to time.”

“unseat sitting (state) lawmakers with more than two terms in the same office or those who have not watched out for the best interest of the taxpayer.”

That’s a pretty noble goal.

I personally think sortition would be better than the crap we have now, but it too would be crap- just slightly less smelly crap.

This is the guy who whined about not being hired by the Horry County Economic Development Corporation. Threatened to sue them for discrimination. Said they discriminated against him because he’s a convicted felon.

Mildly interested until I got to “Specter is closely affiliated with former two-term S.C. lieutenant governor André Bauer”

Specter’s biggest claim to fame in Horry County was taking federal grant money in a successful campaign to turn NMB into a totally smoke-free zone. He’s fanatical on the issue of smoking. His dirty tricks campaign against local ex-cop Bob Kelly included falsely asserting, repeatedly, that Kelly owned a cigar shop he frequents, which is actually run by a friend of his. And ads for the shop featuring bikini-clad models were cited by Specter, his sockpuppets, his chosen candidate and HIS sock puppets, etc. as proof that Kelly is “sexist” and “misogynistic.” ALL bullshit, based on the first lie, the claim that Kelly is the owner of the shop. That’s just one instance of his dishonesty. YES, he is indeed a fucking cockroach.

Martin has never been on ’em. When I did work for Specter, he assumed that I needed them, and kept saying I should apply. Never did. But that didn’t stop him from posting as 10 different people and claiming I was on ’em.

I knew this post from Will was gonna draw you out. “Jeff Harper”, “SNAPcop”, etc. Gonna make pogo jealous. lol

Buz Martin should see a professional. It’s quite possible he suffer from paranoid personality disorder.
Anyone that disagrees with his views becomes a sock puppet.
Well Buzz, you’re not on Facebook any more. You can’t block me here.
I can personally attest to your actions, as I’m one of many he’s accused of being sockpuppets.

That said enough tight there. Why would anyone associate with S. Bauer?

It appears that Specter is working with Columbia whackjob Jeffrey Sewell on that project.

If he’s running it, I strongly suggest that it be audited every 15 minutes.
