THE “REPUBLICAN” ESTABLISHMENT’S FIREWALL IS IN SERIOUS TROUBLE
Looks like “Republican” establishment’s “last stand” is already crumbling …
In the GOP elite’s ongoing battle to derail the populist insurgency of billionaire businessman Donald Trump, the state of Florida was supposed to represent a critical firewall. Surely the Sunshine State – and its 99 delegates – would go to Marco Rubio, its junior U.S. Senator?
Um … no.
Rubio – who hasn’t exactly been representing his constituents lately – is currently trailing Trump by a whopping 16-point margin, according to the latest Quinnipiac University survey.
Guess Rubio’s bid to strip South Carolina of its “First in the South” status isn’t as big of a deal as he thought it might be …
Trump has the support of 44 percent of likely GOP primary voters in Florida, well ahead of Rubio’s 28 percent support. U.S. Senator Ted Cruz of Texas came in a distant third, receiving 12 percent support.
No other candidate polled in double digits.
“The size and shape of Trump’s lead is impressive,” said Peter A. Brown, assistant director of Quinnipiac’s polling operations. “He leads in every age group by 9 to 19 percentage points. He does better among men than among women and, despite being a New York multi-billionaire, he leads among those who identify with the Tea Party.”
Brown added that Trump was “the choice of 66 percent of Florida likely Republican primary voters who most want a candidate with strong leadership.” Rubio’s score among those voters? A measly 16 percent.
Trump currently enjoys big leads in most of the states holding primaries on March 1 – dubbed “Super Tuesday.”
Florida’s primary – which awards all 99 of the state’s GOP delegates to the winner – will be held on March 15. That’s the same day as Ohio’s GOP primary, which awards all 66 of its delegates to the winning candidate.
Recent Quinnipiac polling there showed Trump with a five-point lead over home-state governor John Kasich.
Quinnipiac surveyed 705 Florida likely Republican primary voters from February 21-24. Its survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.7 percentage points.

Republicans, and I’m sure I’m not hurting anyone’s feelings here – are scum.
Well, that was certainly a nice contribution to the discussion.
It’s one of his Pavlovian responses.
How does one post a mathematical identity symbol?
You mean this? “?”
Yes, Ted Cruz is slime ball.
All this after the Willie endorsement!
They must not like Haley either. Toxic endorsement.
Haley’s endorsement might hold more water in Georgia than here though.
I still cant figure out why nobody ran a “down here in georgia we love nikki haley” campaign ad
Wonder how many Senators, Congressmen(Congresspeople for cheeseheads) and Governors are going online to try and find some anti-fecal lip gloss
‘Bout time for some ass kissing boys and girls, Trump is on a roll
I was on the West Coast a lot September and October 2012 – should have seen all the GOP Congressmen running ads “Vote for INSERT NAME, HE/SHE has a record of working across the isle, and working with President Obama.”
“isle” ..??
“The size and shape of Trump’s ____ is impressive,” said Lubio at the foam party.
In fairness to Lubio, at least he’s bi-sexual. I see another reference in the news to yet another bimbo eruption in the last few days.
Lubio charged airline for his side dish on the GOP credit card to attend multiple functions he was attending and has her name on the credit card statements.
What a buffoon. No wonder his finances were such a disaster.

OK, but who is the babe on the left?
The airline tickets/Stoner connection have been public since at least 2010. So if there was anything really to it, wouldn’t it have hit the fan before now?

” So if there was anything really to it, wouldn’t it have hit the fan before now?”
Not necessarily. There was no real reason for anyone to hit him on it until recently.
Before he decided to run, and had some success- anyone bringing it up would have in essence been going out of their way to step on an ant.
It makes political sense to keep the powder keg dry & wait to see someone gains momentum before pulling the skeletons out of their closet.
Crist brought up the credit charges when he was running against him for the senate. That was a fairly nasty campaign. Can’t imagine him not leaking it to the press if there was any prove of an affair. Tough to take these rumors seriously when he is accused of cheating with a woman and then accused of being a homosexual too.
“Tough to take these rumors seriously when he is accused of cheating with a woman and then accused of being a homosexual too.”
Politics is like a criminal trial- all you need to do is create some doubt.
Credit card receipts showing Rubio paying for airline tickets for a young healthcare lobbyist over and over again clearly creates doubt to the average person.
“There was no real reason for anyone to hit him on it until recently.”
Reeeeeaaaalllyyyy !! I wonder why political operatives went to Fits and others about mistresses and foam parties.
” I wonder why political operatives went to Fits and others about mistresses and foam parties.”
I think you and I have a different definition of “recently”.
If I don’t make any sense, why bother responding?
Trump /Rubio 2016 they will finish off Cruz together.
No way in hell.
What does Rubio have to offer Trump?
Trump would lose the bigot vote. David Duke urged his followers to campaign for Trump. And that a vote for the 2 Cubans would be treason to their heritage….also Duke’s followers would meet a lot of like minded folks in the Trump crowd.
That was Ted Cruz’s aka slime ball’s idea….not working.
The GOP establishment & cronies should endorse Trump – that might finish him off. Nothing else has worked for them.
Too late! Now it would just be capitulation. Which will happen soon enough, anyway. Barring a major shift, the game could be over March 1.
Seniors love a good comb-over. Start low, take it high.
Trump is not your run-of-the-mill establishment politician, and that for the most part is his appeal. He is sucking up the political oxygen from the conventional candidates. He does and says things that would disqualify traditional politicians, while his numbers never dip.
There are many in the electorate that will excuse his exaggerations and “political incorrectness” as the public senses that he is speaking and acting from his heart, and not from some staid political platform.
He is a man of a big ego and a much larger mouth, but the people don’t care, he is out to bust through the gates of traditional political confines and has picked up a following that are sick and tired of politics as usual. People are tired of the last eight years of Obama, tired of constantly being threatened by Islamic terrorist, tired of seeing this country invaded by illegal aliens, tired of seeing their standard of living in constant erosion, tired of seeing this country spend trillions of dollars a years while allowing our veterans to go untreated, etc. He has tapped into to those frustrations while maintaining himself in separation from the establishment. His appeal is that he does not depend on traditional political appeal.
As a Republican, Trump is not my first choice. I don’t understand his appeal, along with many other people and his Republican competition. It’s tough to fight something you don’t understand. I don’t think people understand Trump. And if the Democrats think they will defeat him by using traditional political ploys and “political correctness,” they are mistaken.
Rubio – even his own mother won’t vote for him.
