How Bad Will Hillary Clinton Beat Bernie Sanders In South Carolina?

NOT BAD ENOUGH, IT SEEMS … It’s no secret we are 100 percent on board with the populist overthrow of the “Republican” party – spearheaded by Donald Trump. NOT BAD ENOUGH, IT SEEMS …

It’s no secret we are 100 percent on board with the populist overthrow of the “Republican” party – spearheaded by Donald Trump. But we are similarly enamored by “the Bern” – a.k.a. the insurgent Democratic presidential campaign of independent socialist U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont.

Make no mistake: Sanders ideas are terrible (thumbnail sketch here) – and he would be an unmitigated disaster as president.

But we see the potential for the populist wave he is riding to destroy official Democrat-dom the way Trump is taking a sledgehammer to the GOP establishment.

And that’s a beautiful thing …

Also, a Sanders’ victory in the Democratic primary would likely result in a far more honest debate in the November general election – including an opportunity for America to take a long, hard (and hopefully honest) look at the cancer that is socialist ideology.

Such a thorough review is long overdue.

Anyway … while we rejoice in the fact that both status quo parties are having serious base problems, we know Sanders is highly unlikely to “pull a Trump” in South Carolina and emerge victorious over the establishment in his party.

Hillary Clinton is going to win in the Palmetto State on Saturday … in fact, she’s going to win by a huge margin.

How huge?

We asked several Democratic operatives to give us their thoughts on Clinton’s “First in the South” spread … and you might be surprised to hear what they told us.

“I’m hoping for 20-30 percent,” one Clinton backer told us, quickly adding “I’d love for the ‘revolution’ to be over already.”

HILLARY CLINTON
HILLARY CLINTON

Whoa … why the hate?

“Sanders’ supporters are rather nasty online especially to women,” the operative said.

Oh right … we heard something about that.  From this guy, of all people.

But what will Clinton’s spread actually be?

“Realistically I predict 16-18 percent,” the operative said.

That view is in line with several other crystal balls – including one held by a veteran Democrat who has worked on numerous statewide and congressional campaigns in South Carolina.

“Twenty points,” the operative told us.

It’s also in line with the prediction of a Democratic elected official who has been effusive in praising Clinton in recent weeks.

“Fifteen to twenty points,” the ex-pol told us. “If she has a good day.”

Oddly, the operative who predicted the largest margin of victory for Clinton – 28 percent – is a reluctant supporter.

“I’ll probably vote for her but not enthusiastically,” said the source, who is closely aligned to one of Clinton’s biggest public backers in the Palmetto State.

Operatives backing Sanders are more optimistic about his chances.

“Fourteen points,” one predicted.

“Ten points – if turnout tanks,” another opined, citing the possibility that some Clinton backers might stay home if they believe her victory is a foregone conclusion.

It is … but there’s no denying Sanders has made South Carolina far more interesting than anyone could have predicted.

In mid-November, aggregate polling from RealClearPolitics showed Clinton drawing 70.7 percent of the vote in the Palmetto State -compared to only 18 percent for Sanders.  According to the latest data, Clinton has seen her support drop to 57.4 percent, while Sanders has climbed to 33.3 percent.

As a result Clinton’s lead has been slashed from 52.7 percent to 24.1 percent – which is even more amazing when you consider she has the state’s all-powerful black vote (which is expected to comprise between 55-60 percent of the Democratic primary electorate) all but sewn up.

Bottom line?  Hillary Clinton will be a double-digit winner in South Carolina … but she’s in line to lose the expectations game much like she did in Iowa and Nevada.

But we are similarly enamored by “the Bern” –

LMAO! Fits’s boy! :

It wasn’t as bad as he says. His family managed to send him to the University of Chicago. Despite a prestigious degree, however, Sanders failed to earn a living, even as an adult. It took him 40 years to collect his first steady paycheck — and it was a government check.

“I never had any money my entire life,” Sanders told Vermont public TV in 1985, after settling into his first real job as mayor of Burlington.

Sanders spent most of his life as an angry radical and agitator who never accomplished much of anything. And yet now he thinks he deserves the power to run your life and your finances — “We will raise taxes;” he confirmed Monday, “yes, we will.”

The only thing he was good at was talking … non-stop … about socialism and how the rich were ripping everybody off. “The whole quality of life in America is based on greed,” the bitter layabout said. “I believe in the redistribution of wealth in this nation.”

So he tried politics, starting his own socialist party. Four times he ran for Vermont public office, and four times he lost — badly. He never attracted more than single-digit support — even in the People’s Republic of Vermont. In his 1971 bid for U.S. Senate, the local press said the 30-year-old “Sanders describes himself as a carpenter who has worked with ‘disturbed children.’ ” In other words, a real winner.

No wonder you like him…he is a lying, agitating communist pervert just like YOU!!! LMAO!!!!

Bernie is a great man. It seems like a lot of Dems believe Hillary may be a stronger candidate but really I think she is too scandal-scarred and honestly too much of a neocon. We need a real liberal for president. We need someone who can actually fix health care and social security. I don’t see that happening with Hillary, and I damn sure don’t see it happening with a Republican. God bless Bernie Sanders! Sanders 2016!

Reply
Flip February 23, 2016 at 10:43 am

The general election is a democratic process. The party primaries are “democratic” processes. It is the price Bernie must pay for running as a Democratic candidate. With the way our country votes though he would not stand much of a chance running as independent or third party.

Reply
idcydm February 23, 2016 at 11:16 am

Super Delegates are only used for one thing, to control the Democrat Primary. that’s real democracy.

So for all these years Bernie didn’t want to be a Democrat but like all politicians will try to use the system to his advantage. He’s full of more BS than Hillary.

There are only two independents in Congress. Let’s face it, it’s a game everyone plays if they intend to win.

Mainstreaming Sanders requires whitewashing his radical pro-communist past. It won’t be easy to do.

If Sanders were vying for a Cabinet post, he’d never pass an FBI background check. There’d be too many subversive red flags popping up in his file. He was a communist collaborator during the height of the Cold War.

After graduating with a political science degree, Sanders moved to Vermont, where he headed the American People’s History Society, an organ for Marxist propaganda. There, he produced a glowing documentary on the life of socialist revolutionary Eugene Debs, who was jailed for espionage during the Red Scare and hailed by the Bolsheviks as “America’s greatest Marxist.”

Doesn’t sound like a socialist to me: “I don’t believe government should take over the grocery store down the street or own the means of production, but I do believe that the middle class and the working families who produce the wealth of America deserve a decent standard of living and that their incomes should go up, not down. I do believe in private companies that thrive and invest and grow in America, companies that create jobs here, rather than companies that are shutting down in America and increasing their profits by exploiting low-wage labor abroad.”

White people for Bernie! February 23, 2016 at 10:57 am

That’s all happy, feel good rhetoric with no real explanation.

Who doesn’t believe “that the middle class and the working families who produce the wealth of America deserve a decent standard of living and that their incomes should go up, not down.”?!?!

No one would ever admit otherwise even if they did disagree. Bernie is a Socialist for a reason, and that means he believes in redistribution- which is taking money from some people and giving it to others.

It doesn’t matter if he brands himself a “Social Democrat” or not, at the end of the day it’s all about redistribution.

Flip February 23, 2016 at 11:06 am

“Bernie is a Socialist for a reason, and that means he believes in redistribution”

Doesn’t sound like you know what socialism is. Socialism isn’t “the government should tax and spend” no matter how badly you want to make it out to be that.

Social democrats believe in government taxing to fund programs to give people a better quality of life, but the means of production still remain in private hands. By definition that isn’t socialism.

If you want an example of an actual socialist you should look up Kshama Sawant. She once said of Boeing: “The workers should take over the factories, and shut down Boeing’s profit-making machine.” That is socialism.

pogo February 23, 2016 at 10:53 am

Sanders also adopted a Soviet sister city outside Moscow and honeymooned with his second wife in the USSR. He put up a Soviet flag in his office, shocking even the Birkenstock-wearing local liberals. At the time, the Evil Empire was on the march around the world, and threatening the US with nuclear annihilation.

Then, in 1989, as the West was on the verge of winning the Cold War, Sanders addressed the national conference of the US Peace Council — a known front for the Communist Party USA, whose members swore an oath not only to the Soviet Union but to “the triumph of Soviet power in the US.”

Today, Sanders wants to bring what he admired in the USSR, Cuba, Nicaragua and other communist states to America.

He can contrast the old (Hill or Bern) with the new better than the rest. Of course, the “new” isn’t really new because he trots out the same old policies of tax cuts and deregulation that have obliterated the middle class in this country.

Reply

You are correct, Cruz is one of the crazies. Trump would be bad but at least he supports a wide variety of things and would be totally against the Republican establishment. I think what Clinton has going for her is name recognition and a false sense by many Democrats that she will get more accomplished in office. Guessing she will also try to bus people to the polls to bolster her numbers.

Bernie is able to put a drive in people to show up in the polls, it’s just whether or not he can get enough, which I doubt he can.

This scandal really has the potential to upset Hillary’s Presidential aspirations. Remember a few weeks ago, there was talk of keeping Joe Biden, Elizabeth Warren, etc., in the stable in case Hillary’s problems evolve into a full-blown legal issue. Hillary’s legal issues have stayed off the front page thanks in part to the Republicans and their wild primaries. And the MSM will not explore the issue unless they are absolutely force to do so. But Hillary’s issues still persists and will not go away
There is actually more question marks and intrigue associated with the Democrat field of candidates.
