I concur, Fits! While I still feel that Trump is our only hope that this country might be able to repair itself, I also 100% disagree with him on the Apple issue.
I would agree with you on the Apple issue if it were a personal phone. I believe that Apple can get into that phone right now if they wanted to.

Hi idcydm!! The problem with this particular issue is that if they develope the means to crack the phone or phones in this case, they have developed the means to crack all such phones. Then the Government will be abusing the process at every turn, as they do anything else, right now.
This is nothing more than another case of the Government being butt hurt because somebody made something they aren’t able to stick their noses into.
A poster on a website I occasionally visit related to LE things made a great point about the importance of what was on this phone or the lack thereof. He noted that the terrorists went to great lengths to destroy their personal phones before they died, but not the county-owned phone or phones. Any info of importance was probably on the destroyed phones.
Given the massive amounts of data the NSA et al is said to collect on everyday citizens in the US, who have done nothing suspicious or wrong, I don’t understand why they don’t go dig through that. You’d think all that snooping and spying would have accomplished something by now, but it didn’t catch this pair, the Boston Marathon bombers, or anyone else that I can think of.
I understand where you are coming from but I believe they can get all the information right now. Hell they designed the damn thing, do you think they don’t already have a process to get into it.

I think he is probably wrong on Apple, but the Government says it is not trying to get Apple to put a backdoor into all of its devices. What they are asking in this suit is that apple find a way to decrypt this one phone. Nothing more. Apple says that is a slippery slop they do not want to start down. It is a lot more nuanced moral, ethical and liberty v. Security issue than you make it out to be.

You should look up libertarian socialisim or social anarchism, not every socialist believes in a strong central government.
Universal health care as we have it today isn’t true socialism because we still rely on privately held insurance companies, not to mention private hospitals, pharmaceuticals, medical device manufacturers and so on. Means of production still clearly in the hands of the capitalists.
Bernie Sanders isn’t even a socialist. He is a social democrat. He has already publicly stated that he doesn’t think the means of production should change hands. He’s just a pro-government capitalist at the end of the day.

A friend who was working for a large international corporation had a number of gay and lesbian co-workers in his office four years ago. He told how a lot of them were really conservative people, who were fiscally conservative, gun owners, and held many of the same beliefs and values that he did, except that they were gay. He said quite a few wound up voting for 0bama, and hating it, probably feeling as I did when I voted for McCain in 2008. Understandably, he noted, they just could not vote for a Presidential candidate or a party that seemed hell bent on cutting their throats regarding issues of equal (not superior) rights. I asked why they didn’t vote for the Libertarian candidate to show their dissatisfaction with the Republican/Romney camp. He said some wanted Romney soundly defeated that badly and that a few he talked with did pick the Libertarian.
I hope Trump wakes up and backs off of these bullshit issues. Equal rights for the gay or lesbian couple down the street from me are not hurting me. There are more pressing issues that ARE hurting this country and which he has addressed. He needs to focus on them.
