VETERAN DEMOCRATIC INCUMBENT FACES GOP CHALLENGER

We don’t get how Glenn Reese is still a South Carolina Senator …

Seriously: The guy is a flaming liberal and yet he continues to get elected in one of the most conservative regions of the state.  Apparently he expects 2016 will be no different, too …

But will it?

Cornelius Huff, currently serving in his first term as mayor of Inman, S.C. (Reese’s hometown), has announced his intention to run as a GOP candidate against the 26-year incumbent Democrat.  In fact Huff’s campaign kickoff event for S.C. Senate District 11 (map here) has been scheduled for February 16 in Inman.

A former city councilman, Huff is already out organizing – and raising money.  He’s also well-known and well-regarded in the district as a first responder, firefighter and paramedic – currently serving as crew chief of Spartanburg County’s emergency medical services.

Based upon a quick glance at the voter file, Reese shouldn’t be considered a shoo-in for another term.  Within this district are approximately 15,000 “Republican” households – compared to fewer than 10,000 reliable Democratic households.

That means this could be one of the more competitive races to watch this fall …

Making matters even more interesting?  Huff is black – like roughly thirty percent of his would-be constituents.  If he can mount even a reasonably effective outreach effort, Reese could be in real trouble.

The down ticket in the 2016 election will be a product of what happens up top.
Indications are that it is going to be a dreadful year for Democrats top to bottom.
The Democrats could screw this up so badly that the general general election could be reminiscent of the 2014 mid-term election.

Don’t count on turnout in a Presidential year being identical to a midterm with the worst turnout since WWII.

Besides, the GOP has two VERY weak Senate seats in IL and WI. You also can’t lose a seat more than once. Most of the rest of the seats are hard-core for one party or the other, as the incumbents won in 2010.

The House is not going to change much either way, 85% of the seats are gerrymandered one way or the other.

Is he afraid of our dual office holding laws or does he plan on leaving all those county jobs behind if he’s elected?
They should have caught him when he ran for mayor. He’s already a law breaker.

EMS slots are elected or appointed “offices” in that sense, but I see from whence your thinking flows…

Youre one of those people who reads the first sentence and the claims to be a full fledged Facebook attorney. Read the whole law and article before you look like a demands again. The law clearly states it doesn’t apply to people who are in the firefighting realm of government.

Reese (not this one) is a panderer. He plies the gullible voters of his district with sweet, sticky, chemically enhanced pastries and they get all numbed out and push the button for him. I challenge anyone to name a piece of legislation of significance that he has sponsored in all his years in the senate.

Thanks for clearing that up. Someone told me that he hired “Carnac the Magnificent” to come in and hypnotize the masses and then instructed people to vote for him.
It is refreshing to learn that some politicians do it the old fashioned way, with chemically enhanced pastries.”

In 2000 and 2004 Reese won 58-42 against a very well known opponent who raised and spent over $100,000 (not counting Howard Rich money) and 2008 won 59-41 against an opponent who raised and spent over $100,000 …. The outcome for this raise will be just like the others.

He makes a living selling doughnuts in one of the most overweight states in the union. He doesn’t seem vulnerable to me.

That’s right—Reese WAS one of the gutless SC senators who ripped down patriots’ flag WITHOUT your vote

But that long Tea Train is humming and HONEST voters are coming—there’ll be a barbeque and Reese IS the goat !!!
