TIME FOR THE REST OF THE GOP FIELD, SENATE TO STEP UP …
U.S. Senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida have agreed to support legislation sponsored by U.S. Senator Mike Lee of Utah that would block federal funding for Barack Obama‘s “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing” rule.
Now if only U.S. Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina would follow through on his plans to put this “rogue regulation” under the microscope via congressional hearings …
Promulgated by Obama’s Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), this onerous rule would effectively put the federal government in charge of local zoning laws all over the country. Basically, it would allow Washington, D.C. to infringe upon one of the most fundamental liberties we have left – the right to live where we want – permitting politically correct bureaucrats to mandate the construction of low-income housing in the middle of high-rent neighborhoods.
You know, like Hillary Clinton‘s hometown …

Manning praised Rubio and Cruz for their support of Lee’s bill – which would block the federal government from using more than $3.3 billion in community development block grants as leverage over 1,200 municipalities across the nation.
“Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz agree that President Obama’s political bureaucrats at the Department of Housing and Urban Development have no business overriding local zoning authority to impose their radical vision on America,” Manning said. “This has nothing to do with real housing discrimination, which has been illegal for almost 50 years, it is about nationalizing neighborhoods, giving the federal government the power to determine where people live and what will be built where. This may be Obama’s most far-reaching regulation yet, and that is why the Senate must stop it.”

Rubio and Cruz deserve credit on this issue, and we would encourage the rest of the “Republican” field – Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson and John Kasich – to follow suit. We would also encourage every “Republican” member of the U.S. Senate to stand up to this nonsense.

How would this work in SC? Would the Feds move smarter more finacially successful people in from other states? You could use some more Yankees to straighten things out down there.

For anyone living in Forest Acres, you have a duty to educate yourself on this since we are some of the first targets. They are planning on putting section 8 housing where Cardinal Newman used to be.
I don’t know why this is news, it’s been happening for years. Developers get low interest loans with the agreement that they will also build low income housing on or near the development. Go up to Spears Church Creek Road, gated communities were built and properties sold… then once the developer was out from under all the $400,000 – $700,000 homes he completed his obligation and built an apartment complex full of Section 8 housing on the shared property line as the gated community. Talk about pissed off home owners.

That is total BS. This rule would do the opposite, by requiring more affordable housing it gives people of lesser means the ability to live where they want.
