EVERYBODY DIZZY?
Ralph King “Tripp” Anderson, the chief judge of South Carolina’s administrative law court, has officially removed his name as a candidate for this week’s legislative election of a new justice for the S.C. Supreme Court.
Sound familiar?
Anderson did the same thing yesterday … only to reconsider his decision (redecide?), causing the mother of all clusterfucks at the S.C. State House. And causing more than a few people to accuse this website of dirty dealing on behalf of one of the candidates in the race.
This time, though, there’s apparently no take backs …
Take a look …

Anderson’s withdrawal means the race is down to a two-way battle between S.C. court of appeals chief judge John Few and Bruce Williams, another judge on the appeals court.
Who should win? We have no dog in the fight … either judge would be fine with us (although some conservative lawmakers want to install Williams first and Few the following year).
Bigger picture?
Once again, the S.C. General Assembly has demonstrated its fundamental unfitness when it comes to electing judges – as they have in the past. The inherent corruption of legislative judicial elections – which we have repeatedly exposed and repeatedly called for lawmakers to reform (along with the rest of the state’s notoriously corrupt judicial branch) – simply cannot be tolerated any longer.
Judges should either be popularly elected or (our preference) appointed by future governors with the advice and consent of the State Senate (or the S.C. General Assembly as a whole, we don’t really care).

You can pitch it till you are blue in the face, problem is, only a few private citizens in SC really give a shit.
Hard to get people’s attention on judges 95% of them will never have to sit before in their lives.
Mahoney and Jones, two judges, were each arrested on drunken driving charges. When they arrived in court on the appointed day, no one else was there, so instead of wasting time waiting around, they decided to try each other. Motioning Mahoney to the stand, Jones asked, “How do you plead?”
“Guilty”
“That’ll be fifty dollars and a warning from the court.” Jones stepped down, and the two judges shook hands and changed places.
“How do you plead?” asked Mahoney.
“Guilty.”
Mahoney reflected for a moment or two. “These drunken driving incidents are becoming
all too common of late,” he pointed out sternly. “In fact this is the second such case in the
last quarter of an hour. That’ll be one hundred dollars and thirty days in jail.”
Looks like the toast just got buttered.
Few will be the biggest drunken poon-hound to sit on the Supreme Court since Jean Toal.

the corporatist agenda hidden behind a few faith-based flourishes.
Why would so many democrat members of the black caucus vote for Few? Is it possible that deals were made and votes were traded? Probably not. That would be against the law!
