AND “WATCHING PEOPLE YOU KNOW BECOME PEOPLE YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW”
We usually agree with S.C. Senator Katrina Shealy on things … but not always. One thing is for sure, though, we never have to go digging to figure out where she stands on an issue.
Shealy is an open book – whether she’s mixing it up with her own party’s governor or battling bureaucrats in an effort to fix a broken state agency. So naturally, when all hell broke loose at the S.C. State House this week owing to another corrupt judicial election, we figured Shealy wouldn’t be staying silent.
And she wasn’t …
“I must admit in my sixty years I have had regrets, (as) I am sure we all have,” Shealy wrote on her Facebook page on the eve of the election. “I think the hardest thing for me is to go through life watching people you think you know become people you don’t know and the kind of people you don’t want to know. There are a couple things in life I don’t like and the one I dislike the most is someone that is dishonest. Telling a lie ALWAYS catches up with you and in the end what do you have? The same results and a loss of integrity. I have heard enough ‘untruths’ in the last two days to last a lifetime!”
Shealy’s “last two days” comment is obviously a reference to the drama associated with this year’s contentious election for the S.C. Supreme Court, but the broader point she’s making worth acknowledging. The notion that people who enter politics “become people you don’t know and the kind of people you don’t want to know” is so true.
Just look at U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford, for example …

She was good for about the first year in office. Then she became one of those people I don’t want to know. She sure had no problems in playing, “go along to get along” and voting to inflict another two years of the Queen Mother Of SC Corruption on us (aka Jean Toal). Her endorsements of a Sheriff’s candidate who maintains many of the same questionable connections as the guy he replaced, who is now in prison, didn’t help. Nor did her endorsement of another member of the sellout NWO Bush Klan.
God, I hope a viable challenger emerges, ASAP.
Jake was not so bad. Kat is not either. We could have much worse.
You are correct that we could always have worse. Jake lost me when he stuck the green weenie in the asses of CWP holders on at least two occasions for no good reason. The first was when he helped shoot down a (House) CWP reciprocity bill which would have given us reciprocity with Georgia and several more states that we didn’t have reciprocity with. Instead, he supported the Senate version which was not as good. If you have to obtain a CWP from UT, NH, FL, or elsewhere just do you can legally carry when you go into GA, thank Jake.
The second was when he refused to support CWP restaurant carry, giving the lame excuse that it would allow criminals and drug dealers to carry in bars and restaurants. You’d think the idiot, being a retired cop, would know that criminals and drug dealers ALREADY carry in those places and don’t bother with permits. He said he was opposing it as a favor to his LE buddies. Scary thing is that crooks like his buddy Metts carried anywhere on their badge.
Katrina started out good but has quickly veered to the left, too many times in her first term. She helped pass restaurant carry, to her credit.
Soon after, she voted to keep Jean Toal in power for another two years. She endorsed a Sheriff’s candidate with many ties to the same questionable sources as Metts, who is now in prison. Then she endorses another Goddamn Bush for Predident.
I do question her sense of ethics based on these moves.
Then she votes to allow (unspecified) persons to determine who is or is not fit to own a firearm, something which most thinking people should find troubling.
Her Peggy Hill-esque support of a CDV law, which really won’t do a thing to stop CDV murders has aspects which might come back to bite people who are not “wife-beaters” on the butt.
I am sort of expecting her to jump on board the “Mother Emanuelle” new gun law bandwagon during this leguslative session.
We could do worse, but I think we could do a lot better, too.
Are you running?
Are you going to finance my campaign?
HeeHee! I can just see the opposition research now. The term “meat curtains” jumps first in my mind. Your campaign would be a cardiology unit’s dream not to mention the spike in oxygen sales you could spark.
LOL! Elect me and I’ll put meat curtains in everbody’s face!!!!
If she dose jump on the “Mother Emanuelle” rule I will have to join you . But right now she is my first choice.
You seem to know everything about everything, so why don’t you run?. I’m sure someone like you would have no problems raising money. And with those catchy slogans, I’m sure the people would flock to your banner.
Oh my, politicians lying, cheating, stealing, committing adultery, invoking their religion while involved in affairs, feathering their own nests and bank accounts surely not!

“Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men, even when they exercise influence and not authority; still more when you superadd the tendency of the certainty of corruption by authority.”- Lord Acton
She spends her time lobbying the every Chamber of Commerce or Republican Club to get the “Politician of the Year ” award.
Other than that, what has she done?????
Ummmm…Kemosabe…you remember Katrina—she joined Joe Wilson in NOT letting you vote on the flag by the way
Why yes, Tonto—the country-club RINO did don’tcha know—and in 2016…she, Joe AND Jeb will ALL be…D O A
Jeb’s already going down and all around the town you can’t swing a cat without hitting a voter fed up with Katrina
So–Kat—remember when YOU lied and told voters—elect me to represent you?—in November comes YOUR subpoena !!!
