Most, though, remember our exclusive story a few years back which exposed this organization as nothing but a sop for powerful special interests.
Speaking of … when last we checked in on this crony capitalist association, it was subserviently carrying special interest water on behalf of a so-called “free market” liquor bill.
Not very well, either …
SCBIPEC’s leader Tom DeLoach ran afoul of several state lawmakers by allegedly threatening them … which we’re told contributed to the failure of the special interests pushing this bill to get the language they wanted included.
Now that the bill has been scheduled for a hearing in the S.C. Senate, DeLoach is ramping up his “advocacy” on the issue – slapping a “business negative” rating on the version of the liquor bill that cleared the S.C. House of Representatives.
Interesting …
Curiously, sources close to the Big Liquor strategists currently managing this bill tell us they were caught off-guard by the SCBIPEC announcement.
“The new management was displeased,” one source told us.
In fact, this source said SCBIPEC “engagement” on this issue a year ago “did more harm than good,” and there was concern about DeLoach upsetting lawmakers again with his brusque tactics.
How’s that for teamwork!
This website continues to advance a very lonely view in this debate – namely that there should be no regulation of the alcohol industry, period. Obviously Big Liquor doesn’t support that position, but then again neither do the smaller and mid-sized retailers for whom we are routinely accused of shilling.
Oh well …

Wasn’t an elected official. Was like some GOP consultant guy, who was like a downtowl Cola lawyer. Remember, his wife bailed out of the car and called the cops, and then she was gonna go to school, and stay away from him, and then she told the judge she “luved him” and he was gonna kill himself and crazy stuff. Like a Legal Eagle T-Rav!
You don’t have to be a politician to look like an idiot while tooting your values horn. (see: flip/gt/pogo/sandi morals/today’s current id) Trying to force people to “be perfect like you” is a open invitation for KARMA to come a calling.

First, being a Gator Nation Fan, you can’t waterboard me in to saying something bad about him. Secondly, to me he is a good example of what influential Christians should be, an example not an enforcer. The man makes his faith clear without harsh judgments of others, a fact that drives liberals nutty. Even as a Agnostic and as a college football fan, I admire his spirit and positive energy. People could do a lot worse as far as a athlete for their kid to look up to. One last thing,look at the Eagles, that’s all I’m going to say.
He’s not a bad person, I admire his devotion to his faith. I just wish he performed a bit better.

Don’t forget you promised a foreign country one night stand story. Extra points for not remembering where you were at when you woke up! Sadly, the closest I’ve been to a foreign country in my adult life is Disney or Miami.
I’d have thought you might make a tiny little effort to understand what the hell you were writing about on this issue, but it clearly makes no difference to you whether have your facts straight. Yesterday you were concerned about small/medium sized distributors. Today it’s small/medium sized retailers. You should at least ask your paymasters to explain in clearer language (so you understand it better) what they want you to write.
