Nikki Haley To GOP Electorate: Simmer Down

“RESIST THE SIREN CALL OF ANGRY VOICES” S.C. governor Nikki Haley used her nationally televised response to U.S. president Barack Obama‘s final “State of the Union” address to call on “Republicans” to ratchet down their rhetoric.  In fact, Haley used a June 2015 racially-motivated mass shooting in Charleston, S.C. as a…

“RESIST THE SIREN CALL OF ANGRY VOICES”

S.C. governor Nikki Haley used her nationally televised response to U.S. president Barack Obama‘s final “State of the Union” address to call on “Republicans” to ratchet down their rhetoric.  In fact, Haley used a June 2015 racially-motivated mass shooting in Charleston, S.C. as a pretext for calling on calm and quiet among the electorate.  She even managed to invoke the removal of the Confederate flag (a banner she previously supported) as part of her plea for “lowered voices.”

“We removed a symbol that was being used to divide us, and we found a strength that united us against a domestic terrorist and the hate that filled him,” Haley said.

That’s true … but her illogical extension of this otherwise valid point is troubling.  Very troubling.

“There’s an important lesson in this,” Haley said of the response to the Charleston shooting.  “In many parts of society today, whether in popular culture, academia, the media, or politics, there’s a tendency to falsely equate noise with results.”

“Some people think that you have to be the loudest voice in the room to make a difference,” Haley added.  “That is just not true. Often, the best thing we can do is turn down the volume. When the sound is quieter, you can actually hear what someone else is saying. And that can make a world of difference.”

Wait … so those of us raising our voices to protest the bipartisan screw job in Washington, D.C. are one step removed from white supremacist mass murderer Dylann Storm Roof?

Apparently so, according to Haley – who used the address to reinvigorate talk of her possible ascension to a national ticket.

In addressing the immigration issue previously in her remarks, Haley made a similar comment – saying that “during anxious times it can be tempting to follow the siren call of the angriest voices. We must resist that temptation.”

In case there was any confusion as to who she was referencing with these “simmer down” comments (ahem, GOP presidential frontrunner Donald Trump), Haley removed any doubt during an interview on Wednesday morning.

“Mr. Trump has definitely contributed to what I think is just irresponsible talk,” Haley told Matt Lauer on The Today Show, but she added that he wasn’t “the only one.”

“There’s other people in the media, there’s people in my state, I think we’re seeing it across the country,” she said.

People in her state? Hmmm ….

Wonder who she’s talking about there …

Frankly, this sounds a lot like the establishment “response” offered by U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn back in 2011 following the shooting of former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords in Arizona.  At the time, Clyburn said the federal government ought to “rethink the parameters” of the First Amendment in response to the shooting – which wound up having absolutely nothing to do with the pervasive frustration of the electorate at the time.

RELATED: NIKKI HALEY’S TEETH ARE CLENCHING … AND TRENDING

So … how does Haley’s policy of “rhetorical disarmament” (and ideological appeasement) jibe with the mood of the GOP electorate?

Not well …

“No one is hiring the modern day equivalent of June Cleaver as president and that’s basically what she’s trying to be,” one national operative told us.  “(She’s saying) ‘Now Wally and Beaver, we’re all a family and should respect each other’ – a nice sentiment, reassuring (and) often right. But often naïve, too.”

Naïve … not to mention downright offensive to those of us who don’t like our ideological convictions compared to race-based hate.

In fact one conservative activist in South Carolina responded that Haley had betrayed “the Tea Party who put her in office – and I will be as loud as I want to be!”

“Philosophy aside, she has a lot of the same problems that Paul Ryan and Marco Rubio have,” the operative continued.  “They are likable but not particularly big personalities (who) people automatically follow.  However, they have a small group of dedicated fans who desperately want to believe they are smarter, tougher, more principled, and inspirational than they really are.  She’s too much the type of friend who if she came upon you in the middle of a street fight, would stop and ask questions about who started the fight and why before trying to break it up rather than just diving in and throwing haymakers out of loyalty to you.”

Of course the operative said it wasn’t surprising to see Haley’s speech receive rave reviews from establishment figures – including the entire Fox News’ panel (which hates Trump) and GOP pollster Frank Luntz, who referred to Haley’s speech as “very, very presidential.”

“Nice, motherly calm works following the prince of pretentiousness and that’s really all that matters in this one-off situation,” the operative told us.

What did you think of Haley’s speech?  Vote in our poll and post your thoughts in our comments section below …

I have to disagree. She ‘swallowed’ hard several times trying to catch her breath-dry throat I guess. She would have been wise to drink water like Rubio. :)

The content was expected.Attack Trump and Cruz while defending Amnesty for illegals per the ESTABLISHMENT.She attacked Trump on NBC today.Trump essentially called her a political whore that has asked him for ‘lots’ of money and WEAK on immigration.

She did not do a good job of resisting the siren call of the nastiest voice of 2010, Sarah Palin. I mean, seriously, does she win without the nastiness of Palin and the Tea Party. They crushed Vinnie with nastiness. She wants in on VP so bad and is already appealing to the suburban moms.

“People don’t need to know how many times and what positions,” Folks said. “But I’ll give them the affidavit that contains my statement about what happened, and I’ll point them to the phone logs and text messages and other stuff that was released … I don’t see this as the primary problem for her going to the next level, but she will never survive a national vet.”

This ‘stuff’ will end her VP aspirations if she continues carrying the garbage for the Republican ESTABLISHMENT. The MSM will leave her alone as long as she is doing their work-trying to destroy Trump and Cruz.IF she was nominated as VP for the general election the MSM would turn on her in a second to elect Bernie (Hillary will be indicted).

Haley would take down a Republican ticket.

Ms. Beaver died and Mr. Ward Beaver remarried the recently widowed Governor Nikki Haley whose husband Michael died as a result of a tragic encounter with a hoe

The new Ms. Nikki Beaver’s first time in her new home witnessed Mr. Beaver ripping “the beaver” a new one for leaving his bike at school and sent him to bed with no supper

The next morning Ms. Beaver awoke early to fix Wally his breakfast and while she and Wally were exchanging pleasantries in walked Mr. Beaver

Without breaking wind Ms. Nikki Beaver turned to Mr. Ward Beaver and stated, “Ward you were a little rough on the beaver last night”

Wally spent two days in the hospital in attempts to get half a Jimmy Dean sausage out of his throat

Haley not only confirmed she was targeting Trump, she seemed to compare him to the rioters in Ferguson and Baltimore.

LEMON: I think I want to start with that soundbite. You said the ‘loudest voices in the room.’ Was that comment directed at Donald Trump?

HALEY: Partially him, but a lot of people. You know, a lot of what I was talking about is that we’ve seen across our country — if you look at Ferguson and Baltimore we are seeing that people have to be loud, they have to be angry to have their voices heard.

Maybe if Nikki would raise her voice once in a while some of those children at DSS would still be alive and Planned Parenthood in SC wouldn’t be killing babies at record rates?

I don’t have time to keep track of all the lies he’s told.

The Colonel (R) January 13, 2016 at 11:47 am

These are the “fact checks” from last night:

He embellished his record on jobs, citing “more than 14 million new jobs,” without mentioning that’s only private sector jobs and only since the job losses hit bottom in February 2010.

Obama similarly omitted part of his presidency in boasting of nearly 900,000 manufacturing jobs “in the past six years.” Over his entire time in office, manufacturing jobs have gone down by 230,000.

And he said he had cut the country’s deficits by “almost three-quarters.” But that’s measured from fiscal 2009, which included some increased spending by Obama.

He repeated his now years-long claim of crediting the Affordable Care Act for a slowdown in health care spending, which economists have linked mainly to the economy. In fact, the growth rate jumped in 2014, when the law’s coverage provisions were implemented.

Obama claimed, like he did in 2014, that the U.S. has “cut carbon pollution more than any other country on Earth.” That’s true in terms of total tonnage but not in terms of percentage reductions.

He said that the U.S. spends “more on our military than the next eight nations combined.” That’s close enough in terms of dollars, but as a share of the nation’s economy, the U.S. is only the fourth highest of the top 15 countries.

Yeh you only have time to keep up with all the “lies, halve truths and broken promises” of Republicans.

What you said except for…”of Republicans and Democrats”.

It was a video, remember?

Since Trump started riling people up to commit violence against those they think are Muslims, Sikhs have again started being attacked because of their turbans. That’s what brings this home to Trikki. I would imagine the Skikh community is soo small in this country, she may even know someone who knows someone who’s been attacked.

Only people that commit violence in this country are angry liberals.

It was interesting to hear Debbie Wasserman Shultz, Chief Democratic Party Liar, er, uhm Chair of the Democratic Party talk about Nikki last night. She said Nikki was very unpopular in South Carolina when the facts are she’s one of the most popular governors we’ve had: http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/main/nikki-haley/

Shulttz on the other hand is considered by most Democrats to be one of the most unliked Chairs the party has ever had and she had to bail on her planned senatorial run becuse polling showed she hadn’t a chance in hell: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/09/democrats-debbie-wasserman-schultz-111077_Page2.html

That’s pretty good Boz.They apparently ran you out of Myrtle Beach and Horry County because of your lies, stalking and deranged behavior toward public officials and their families. My guess is the only reason you haven’t been sued is that you are broke/ live with your mother AND the only reason you haven’t been served Restraining Order’s/arrested is that the public officials in Horry/Georgetown County are scared to death of you and are trying to protect their families?

I will try and do better. :)

I’ve never been run out of Myrtle Beach. I go there often. I look after my mother, and without me she might have died years ago — or most certainly would be in a care facility.

There is no reason to sue me, because I speak the truth, and do so with no malice. Funny that you think all the public officials are scared of me. If they really were, I’d have few sources of good information. But I do. You figure it out.

You are way out of touch. You apparently haven’t even learned yet that the the state supreme court has upheld the Kelley verdict, for example — which only sets the stage for the appeal process to move to a higher court, one that is not as impossibly corrupt as the one that just ruled on the lawsuit’s verdict.

btw, one of the funny things about reading the opinion is that it cites the sexual predator Nelson Hardwick as one of the key witnesses for Kelly — and also the dishonest Gresham Barrett, who falsely presented himself as still being the Chairman of the SCGOP (by using the stationary of his former office) when endorsing the favored candidates of “The Myrtle Beach Mafia.”

The verdict will not stand. And you will never be able to intimidate me with your blathering bullshit.

gnite

flip January 14, 2016 at 8:26 am

LMAO!!! Verdict upheld.NO federal appeals court with overturn Kelley’s WIN-I doubt they will even hear it.

All that ‘blathering bullshit’ you peddled that idiot Wren and The Sun News cost em hundreds of thousands of dollars and has set legal precedent in SC for a PUBLIC official/person to sue for libel.Congratulations.

WE Will all await patiently for your next victims. :)

The Buzzman January 14, 2016 at 11:34 am

It was upheld by a state APPELLATE court, and indications are that Jay Bender is inclined to take it to the State Supreme Court. Unless you’re really as thick as you appear to be, you know that the appellate court is just the first step. It has yet to go before the SC Supreme Court on appeal. That will take a while. IF they refuse to hear it, that’s still not the end of it. Whichever way that goes, a FEDERAL court appeal is next. IF they uphold it, it goes to SCOTUS. That would be the last step.

By that time, the case would have garnered much attention nationally, and there would be a major move on the part of journalists worldwide to support Wren, and Sun Publishing.

The verdict will not stand.

btw, I do appreciate the power you assign to me, with the suggestion that I somehow concocted an entire federal investigation and “sold” that to Wren and TSN.

It’s nonsense of course.

Your specialty.

Queen Nikki is a tramp. She is shallow and insincere. If you spend much time around her you will see that she is nothing but a dog and pony show…same cliche and canned statements…if I hear her say “I’ve got your back” or “sister-girl” one more time, I’ll vomit.

“you can actually hear what someone else is saying.” Then why did I have to file ethics charges against you for ignoring my petition for regress? Because the individuals were under your command. They were in violation of State law, and the UCOMJ. Yes, I was denied the opportunity to clarify and quantify wording found in our State’s Constitution for you. I could go on …
