COLUMBIA POLITICIANS WANT “PUBLIC COMMENT” ABOUT CORRUPT TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT THEY REFUSE TO FIX

In case you haven’t been following this website’s coverage of the debate over whether to raise the gas tax in South Carolina – it boils down pretty simply.

The S.C. Department of Transportation (SCDOT) – despite receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in new money – continues to neglect long-overdue repairs in favor of politically-motivated projects.  As a result, $100 million interchanges get built in the middle of nowhere … while critical economic corridors are left to crumble.

Oh, and SCDOT is all about keeping its piss poor management a secret …

S.C. Rep. Phyllis Henderson promised to get to the bottom of all this last year, but she’s done nothing.  Now her worthless legislative committee is hosting a public hearing (.pdf here) in the hopes of receiving “public testimony about the Department of Transportation.”

What a joke … more hearings?

How many hearings will it take for South Carolinians – who already pay more of their income on fuel than the residents of any other state save Mississippi and West Virginia – to realize they’re getting screwed with their pants on?

Citizens should give this agency – and Henderson’s committee – all sorts of hell.

They’ve robbed us blind … and even though state government is siphoning another $1.2 billion from taxpayers in the coming year, they still want to raise gas taxes.

Fed up?  You should be …

“Now is the time for the public to speak out regarding SCDOT and its numerous problems,” one advocate told us.

Indeed it is.  Citizens can reach Henderson’s committee by calling 803-212-6810.  Or better yet, email her directly here and let her know you’re sick of politicians (like her) continuing to let this agency abuse your trust and waste your money.

Henderson said she was going to stand up to SCDOT’s corruption … but she’s failed to do that.  Now it’s time to hold her accountable, too … and replace her and other State House politicians who have proven unwilling to protect our interests.

Do believe that the Cockroaches are heavily invested in Wheel and Alignment Shops throughout South Carolina

I am sure there are worse highways/streets however if you want to destroy your vehicle, take a short trip up I-26, get off at Highway 48/Chapin exit, hang a right and proceed over to Highway 176

If you are not satisfied with the amount of damage to your car upon arriving at the stop sign at 176, then make a U turn at the Church and do it again

Guaranteed you will bust something

Fuckin’ Cockroaches

Who cares?
Maybe you should travel populated areas instead of dumpy backroads.

Morning to you also, Fucktard

There are taxpayers in this State who choose to live in rural areas

Unfortunately we do not get to choose where are tax dollars are spent

What freakin’ ticks me off, is all we get is talk, hearings, chatter, plans, new plans. And every time we think there’s some cash around, they talk some more. They never fix a freakin’ road. I-95 backs up 10 miles into Georgia because it goes from three lanes to two lanes. I know why United nixed the flight to Columbia from Newark. They just extended it to land in Florida because people up north hate “driving” (i.e. crawling) through our state.

I-95 is da debil.

Rocky Verdad January 12, 2016 at 12:52 pm

Damned straight. What pisses me off, when I have to drive down there, and I’m coming home, the worst freakin’ traffic jam is the last 10 miles before the 17 exit. End up having to try back roads, and either way, you still have to suck up 3 miles of bumper to bumper.

As Hank Jr. so plainly sung:
“The city is pissed at the county, the county is pissed at the state and the road still ain’t paved”

Rocky Verdad January 12, 2016 at 12:53 pm

I’m so close to wanting to move back down to Miami.

sparklecity January 12, 2016 at 12:58 pm

Only thing though is there are a number of toll roads in Florida so looks like in the end it appears our wallets are fuck’ed just about the same no matter what……..
if it ain’t some tax it’s being nickeled & dimed by state & local ‘fees” (as Florida does…)

Rocky Verdad January 12, 2016 at 4:29 pm

Thing is I don’t mind paying for roads. What I don’t like is paying and not gettin’ any freakin’ roads.

halfback January 13, 2016 at 5:09 am

Bye. You would be miserable there to

Lost Tater January 12, 2016 at 1:05 pm

Thank god. Keep up your own dirt roads. Spend the money where it will do the most good for the most people. Pull up them boot straps and quit begging for handouts. You’re obviously a liberal democrat. You rural ones are the biggest moochers.

Actually, you know nothing Lost Idiot. The road that is being referred too (Chapin Road to I-176) is indeed horrific AND is heavily traveled as Chapin residents must now travel it daily to deliver their middle school kids to an unnecessary middle school in the Spring Hill area that was thrust upon District 5 taxpayers through the 2008 Bond Referendum. So please, just STFU.

Lost Tater January 12, 2016 at 1:36 pm

Good lord, Mr Ed. You guys are a fucking idiotic mess. Unnecessary middle school? Yeah, I guess trying to educate you hicks is pointless. Anyways, I’m sure money will first go to projects that actually benefit useful, productive citizens. “Country Boys can survive…”, right? What a silly joke that is…

Reply
Ed January 12, 2016 at 2:03 pm

Uh, we already had an excellent middle school in Chapin… but you’re right, with all the vinyl villages being built by Mungo in the area, there will no doubt be a need for the additional school… you know, the typical “build it and they will come” Mungo business model. Finally, I typically don’t equate “country boys” and vinyl villages… you?

losttaterdumbass January 13, 2016 at 5:19 am

Ed , why do you retort to that idiot? Its obviously from that vast wasteland called Ohio where everyone else is a hick

Torch January 13, 2016 at 10:30 am

And those traveling Kennerly road to get to the school also need new tires and alignments every 6 months. All so Mungo is building a new subdivision out there. Should have to pay a road fee.

You are already socialists January 12, 2016 at 11:45 am

As socialists, maybe the people of SC should pay their football coaches less and put more money into their roads. Did you really get that good of a return on Spurrier?

Reply
a face in the crowd January 12, 2016 at 12:04 pm

If the people of South Carolina were socialists, wouldn’t the football coaches already receive the same salaries as others?

Reply
You are already socialists January 12, 2016 at 1:07 pm

I didn’t say you were smart, sensible socialists. That’s why you don’t even realize you are socialists already. You’re too dumb to actually ask for more from your tax dollars. You just give them away to carpetbaggers like Spurrier or who ever the next guy to rip you off is…

You laugh, but you fail to see that his methods for getting elected are effective.

The size of the lie doesn’t matter anymore. “The people” are truly getting what they deserve- per Mencken

“As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”— H. L. Mencken

Some things are simply unfixable. You simply need to tear them down and start over. The SCDOT probably qualifies. Fire everyone. Close the doors. Start over. When you do, hire almost none of them back- then it will be better for a while until corruption sets in again due to the natural state of government.
