I never want to hear the GOP bitch and point fingers at the Dems over the debt or deficit again. They have harped on about it since Obama was elected and now this?
The combined spending and tax legislation will add $680 billion to the federal budget deficit over 10 years. That’s in large part because the tax breaks aren’t paid for with trims elsewhere in the budget, though supporters said the change simply reflected upfront the cost of doing something Congress had routinely done on a year-by-year basis.
The national GOP is in lockstep with the National Dem Party.

None of this should be the purpose of a spending bill.

What is to be done? (Apologies to Tolstoy and Lenin). The GOP needs to control both Houses and the Oval Office to push through its agenda. It won’t happen. Why? Their Know-Nothingism (in the political sense) has carried them to control of Congress, but won’t take them to the White House. Their agenda won’t sell on a national scale. They can’t win the big states other than Texas. Dominating SC, OK, KS, AL, etc. isn’t the ticket to an Electoral College majority. Republicans better get used to compromise. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a twenty year stretch in which the Dems hold the White House and the GOP controls Congress.
