POST AND COURIER STORY EXPANDS ON OUR INITIAL REPORTING …

Yesterday this website broke a big story involving S.C. attorney general Alan Wilson … a guy who in a little over a year’s time has gone from being a crusader for justice to being just another status quo sellout.

Our story exposed how Wilson – who fancies himself as a 2018 gubernatorial contender – is attempting to influence the ongoing investigation of public corruption at the S.C. State House (on behalf of his political cronies).

Earlier this month Wilson quietly released an advisory opinion – obtained exclusively by FITS – in which he advised first circuit solicitor David Pascoe that several angles of potential prosecution against sitting members of the S.C. General Assembly were unlikely to yield indictments.

Ready for the “shocker?”  Those members – like Wilson – are intimately connected to the neo-Confederate political empire of Richard Quinn and Associates.

Talk about back-scratching …

While not necessarily agreeing with us, The (Charleston, S.C.) Post and Courier nonetheless picked up our story – noting that Wilson had “issued a lengthy opinion that may hinder prosecutors’ efforts to crack down on ethics violators.”

Ya think?

The paper’s report also noted how “ethics watchdogs rolled their eyes” at Wilson’s ruling – with one referring to it as an “extensive statement in support of a very lenient interpretation of the state ethics laws.”

We concur.

Also of interest?  The paper reported that Wilson’s ruling “relied extensively on a House Ethics Committee opinion,” which of course refers to the corrupt self-policing panel of S.C. House members who have shown absolutely zero interest in holding themselves (or their former members) accountable.

All of these are important bits of information for the public to consider …

South Carolina simply cannot continue to turn a blind eye to public corruption.  Nor can it continue to exist under a set of laws providing politicians exclusive authority to pass judgment over their own actions.

Wilson promised he would take a stand, but it appears his zeal for cracking down on ethics violators extended only to one politician – a guy who was blocking the career paths of several of his allies in the S.C. House.

What a joke …

This guy was supposed to be different.  He was supposed to be better.  He’s not … he’s worse.

UPDATE: More attention on this scandal …

Alan rebutted on Thursday…well at least my pappy Joe was in the know and wasn’t found to be lying

You know—he didn’t stab SC conservatives by sticking his head up RINOs Boehner and Paul Ryan

And at least he said Hell no we won’t rip down the flag of patriots by NOT letting YOU get to vote

And he didn’t give the most incompetent presiDENT in history fast-track and try to make you a goat

Yep…he and mammy refused that taxpayer-PAID vacation to Hawaii—their most modest move to date

And of course we KNOW you’ll be slow and reelect Joe and me the next chance you get…NO…WAIT !!!

Trump’s possition on the Confederate flag on the State House grounds.
“I think they should put it in the museum and let it go,” Trump said of the flag during an appearance at his new golf course in the Washington, D.C. suburbs. “Respect whatever it is you have to respect, because it was a point in time, and put it in a museum. But I would take it down. Yes.”

You won’t even have a chance to vote for Trump. He will drop out before then. It was all a trick to elect Hillary.

Will hates Sanford and has tried to destroy him because he beat on a woman, was convicted of CDV and then Sanford fired him?

Will turned on T-Rav after he apparently didn’t take his political advice?

Will has turned on Wilson because he won’t indict every politician in SC and put them in prison?

This shit is crazy. Boz like?

Bible Thumper December 17, 2015 at 9:31 pm

I believe he lied about Haley. If he told the truth, he was still a jerk. The rest is true. I won’t speculate on the motives, but some are admitted, like Wilson.

His motive for going after Rubio with purely politically motivated inuendo is unclear.

Alan has all but stopped his job because of his race for the Gov’s mansion. He is rarely in his offie and he does nothing that will not get him votes.

It is a pity. He is a young man that could have been special, not just another pol. He will be elected Governor. Attorneys General rarely do, and never if they are perceived as a run of the mill politician.

Reply
M326 December 17, 2015 at 7:18 pm

He is worse than a run of the mill politician. He does not respond at all to his constituency. Makes one wonder who he thinks his constituency is–the citizenry or Richard Quinn??? I guarantee you Richard Quinn cannot produce enough votes to elect him if he does not man up and does his job. These Wilsons are just sad political jokes.

“Attempting” – believe you are a little late in your assessment of Wilson’s actions

Pascoe has already pulled his pants back up and his Proctologist has advised him to never bend over when Wilson is around

I do not share in your disappointment of Wilson but I am surprised that Pascoe was such an easy fuck

The Establishment View – Contrary Opinion
The prosecutor in Baltimore decided to charge the police officers involved in the death of Freddy Gray and lost the first case.

Alan Wilson is offering a legal opinion. It is not his job to do the will of the people, but to follow the law. If he is right, then he is saving the state a great amount of money.

He was elected to stand for justice and the laws of this state and not to make opinions to protect the corrupted as he has done so many times. ( Curtis Loftis and the Bank of NY/Mellon?) Wrong! Wilson has been a sellout, probably since before the decision for him to run was made. Daddy Joe had friends like Danny Frazier, Jimmy Metts, Jakie Knotts, and other slimeballs, who needed legal protection. That is exactly what they have seemingly had, based on the dearth of state criminal charges brought against them. How any thinking person could vote for this obviously corrupt, political dynasty tool is beyond me.

Wilson sure is a sellout and more. His lack of actions for justice and anti-corruption In SC make him a criminal . Heard that our State Treasurer , Curtis Loftis babysat Alan Wilson. I bet that they played doctors many times and that will explain why Wilson remains silent with regards to Loftis corrupted behavior. Time to man up Alan Wilson or your reputation will match your actions. Corrupted attorney general. Corruption full blown …

Curtis Loftis has had his hands in the cookie jar from the Bank of New York/Mellon, the Investment Commission, the funds in the STO, for many years. He destroyed the STO with over %100 turn over. The fiasco from the Bank Of NY is very well documented , with ethics violation and under the table deals. Corruption is rampant. This is what you get when you elect a man with a chemical imbalance, a nasty bully with no qualification for the job. Where is the AG, where is the State Ethics Commission, where is the Inspector General? Where are they? Alan Wilson will never be governor. Curtis Loftis will never be governor. Enough is enough.

HD December 18, 2015 at 7:26 am

Bob Cook (the author of the opinion) forgot more about the law yesterday than any of you numbnuts will ever know. There’s a reason he’s been in the AG’s office for decades, AG after AG. There’s no one better, and no one less political or incorruptible. If you’ve got a quarrel with his reasoning or his conclusions, let’s see your legal arguments.

Reply
Lies and the Lying Liars December 18, 2015 at 7:57 am

Don’t confuse these Liars with the truth.

Cook, probably one of the best lawyers in this state, was merely stating his legal opinion as to what the law is in SC.He wasn’t offering his PERSONAL opinion as to the soundness thereof.

These goofballs don’t understand the difference.

Reply
nitrat December 18, 2015 at 8:33 am

Since Cook’s name is not mentioned in the FITS post and I bet virtually no one outside of the AG office knows it…could it be that someone is trying to throw Cook under the bus for the opinion that went out above the AG’s signature?
Now, who would want to deflect responsibility from the AG for an AG opinion?

HD December 18, 2015 at 6:46 pm

You were suggesting that Cook’s involvement was some sort of secret, being disclosed to take heat off the AG. Obviously that isn’t true, as Cook signed the opinion. His conclusions are his, “approved” by the AG. As I said above, I believe that Cook would resign before he tailored an opinion to suit the political desires of any of the AG’s he’s worked for. That’s just not who he is.
