GOVERNOR IS RIGHT TO ELIMINATE UNFILLED POSITIONS …
This website rarely praises S.C. governor Nikki Haley – because she rarely does anything to protect our bottom line as taxpayers. Seriously … it’s embarrassing what a big government gal she’s become.
But we do believe in giving credit where it is due, and Haley does deserve some of it for proposing to get rid of more than 550 vacant state positions.
These are jobs that have sat unfilled for more than a year … which leads to the unavoidable conclusion that these positions are not necessary to the functioning of government.
“If the state has open positions, they should not let them sit vacant,” Haley told The (Columbia, S.C.) State newspaper.
Instead, Haley wants these positions analyzed to determine if they are necessary.
Good. That’s a sensible view to take …
Now if only Haley were equally sensible when it came to cutting unnecessary positions that are currently filled.
Then we might be getting somewhere …

This may not be a good thing at all. What if they are accountability or ethics auditing positions?
Ethics??? In SC? LOL
More likely positions requiring degrees that no legislator’s unemployable relative has.
What if they are dam or infrastructure inspectors???
What if they were only empty because the pay sucked so bad they could not get anyone to take the jobs?
Odds are the funds for these positions have been sucked off by executive staff for pay raises and bonuses for themselves and their anal friends
And jetsetting to distant “conferences” and such.
All 5 members of the board voted for this, not just Governor Haley.
This is what Nikki Haley wants “her” government to do. Cut permanent positions and fill them with no bid contracts – bypasses interview process and the salary can be set to whatever Haley wants it to be.
I would love to know the particulars about the recent disaster money recently sent to Spartanburg & Greenville Counties. Spartanburg alone served more than 15,000 people who applied for the disaster money. FREE MONEY from the federal government. The catch is you had to say you suffered some type of loss – loss of time from work or some type of damage to be eligible. Spartanburg and Greenville did NOT suffer a major disaster from the flooding in October. Why did Nikki not refuse that money and/or send it back? Merry Christmas Spartanburg and Greenville. I hope all records are audited and this FREE money bites you in the butt. Ho! Ho! Ho!
