GONNA BE HARD TO FIGHT A “WAR ON TERROR” LIKE THIS …
On multiple levels, it’s hard to imagine a government doing less with more.
Seriously … for the last fifteen years, it’s as though the United States of America has wanted to cease being a global power, wanted to implode its once-vibrant economy, wanted to drown its citizens in debt. It’s like Dinesh D’Souza‘s “2016: Obama’s America” theory on steroids …
The latest evidence of America’s utter imbecility? Its Air Force is running out of bombs …
That’s right. Despite receiving tens of billions of dollars in new money from taxpayers, America’s military is “expending munitions faster than we can replenish them,” according to a statement from the Air Force’s chief of staff Mark Welsh.
“We need the funding in place to ensure we’re prepared for the long fight,” Welsh added. “This is a critical need.”
Hold up … after wasting billions of dollars on airplanes that don’t work, now we discover the Pentagon is fresh out of bombs?
Unbelievable …
America’s Air Force has dropped/ fired an estimated 20,000 bombs/ missiles over the past fifteen months in an effort to take out the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).
Did it work? Um, no. Not at all …
What a joke.
We’re non-interventionist libertarians, but don’t confuse that with pacifism. In fact our view of how to handle this problem involves bombs. Lots of them.

Finally, a military power story Will got right. Yes, we are short of bombs, both dumb and smart. One of the problems with the “Military Industrial Complex” is that they’ll go do something else if they don’t have weapons to make. You can’t build bombs like you make truck tires or ice cream. The serious impact of catastrophic failure during the manufacture process makes the inherent risks of almost all other forms of manufacturing pale in comparison.
I know this sounds silly, but maybe we should slow down or even stop dropping them.
I would love to hear your proposal.
That’s just silly. Drop play stations and xboxes and their kids will become so stupid they’ll give up.
Well, pp and company kill about 1.5 mil babies every year. So I have zero problem stopping all efforts to bomb Isis until we have solved our own “problem.”
Congratulations, you win the “non-sequitur answer of the week” award.
Actually no. Ask yourself first, why are we discussing bombing a group involved in a civil war in the first place? You will probably decide it’s because they are murderers, who deserve to die, nothing less. On this I agree. However, my issue is that weare spending billions of dollars and lots of mental energy, and political will on something that pales in comparison to our own barbarian monstrousity, millions of abortions on demand, without any legal reprocussions. If there is anything to be enraged about it is this not some sad about a person being killed because they didn’t run when gangs of thugs came to town.
How much does it cost to destroy a mud hut or a Toyota truck?
The same thing it cost a bomb a tank or troops in the open. Bunker busters or guided munitions cost extra…
Would it help if we didn’t announce our intention to bomb before we dropped them?
100+
It would help dramatically if anyone in the National Command Authority had a clue as to what they were doing. Not telling the bad guys that we were planning to bomb them probably would be a good start.
How about dropping billions of tons of pig piss and shit. That should be extremely cost effective.
We can take all the leftover parts from the rendering plant and drop those as well, hopefully, they’ll recognize the snouts and feet for what they are…
Maybe we have some Agent Orange left? I think we should drop Hustler magazines. That would get them to all congregate together, and we could be more effiient. And it would teach the women what they’d need to know for future lives in America.
Get their hands too tired to hold an AK.
George Hormel said ‘We can sell everything but the squeal”.
“Bacon away”!
But – but – but – that might considered “terrorism”..!!
I can see the “munitions” plants springing up all over Eastern North Carolina now! What a boon to their economy!
Eastern North Carolina may mean a “boom” to their economy…
You know they are generating power with the methane off those pits now. It claims to be one of the most effective per KW of the green methods. We will see, I know wind cost is super high.
Well, ….. it could happen! Drop it on every building they’ve got — it’ll keep them busy building new ones. It doesn’t have to be only from swine, since if it’s mixed correctly they couldn’t tell the difference if it contains chicken, llamas, goats, horses, cows, and (forgive me for including this)… humans!
Wouldn’t it also be environmentally correct since it would eliminate major pollution the water ways, etc…?
I’ve been saying that for years (ever since the Iranian hostage crisis)
Great minds think alike!!!!
Or just maybe you got that from one of my “old’ postings….Huummmmm…….
No, but I seem to remember an incident in India where the British deliberately used oil from pigs on their bullets. I don’t remember any other details at the moment. Someone more knowledgeable can elaborate on this.
The British East India company had their own army. They used beef or pork tallow as a lubricant during the 1850s. This offended their Hindu troops who believed the view to be sacred and the Muslim troops who believe pork to be an abomination. One of the most offended groups were the Sepoys (Hindus from India) who would mutiny over the issue starting a year long war that killed more than 2,000 on both sides.
Thanks, Colonel, I just had a vague recollection of that….
I was referring to flying over the chanting masses and dropping pig shit & pig offal on said masses
I broached that subject to old drinking buddies during the Iranian Hostage Crisis back in 1980 while the ragheads were having almost daily demonstrations in front of the US Embassy in Tehran….
On a more somber note….my heart still sinks to my gut every time I think of the abandoned helicopters, the smoldering remains of the C-130 & the charred remains of the airmen who perished at Desert 1 back in April 1980……….
I no shit still want payback for those fuckers spitting on their charred remains….
I for one ain’t forgetting!!!!!!!
Black Jack Pershing style, baby!
Oh, billions and billions, but we’ll donate to your campaign if you buy them!
FITS conveniently left one main point: due to all the mergers in the defense “industry”, only a handful of “factories” make sophisticated munitions like Hellfire’s, TOW’s, laser guided shit, the JDAM packs mated onto a “dumb” bomb, etc. Not to mention that the components of these weapons are made every fucking where because every damn politician wants their district making some damn piece of said weapon. Everything’s contracted out…….
They’re damn near custom made to order which takes time and due to sequestering everything is fucked up.
All that being said, this is capitalism we’re talking about so Uncle Sugar can’t just make BMW here in GSP quit production of Buffy’s “Beemer” and start making M-1 Abrams overnight UNLESS “Uncle Sugar” promises a shitload of money for a big assed contract…..Then FIT’s would howl about that………..
Sadly we are discussing this on Pearl Harbor Day……………
But if you recall, FITS posted years ago that we basically asked for Pearl Harbor………..
Absolutely, the complexities of military procurement are beyond the capabilities of a simple political blogger to grasp. I have a young man working for me that was in that field until he hit the burn out point. The “I got mine” method of dispersement our congressional “leaders” foist off on us adds significantly to the cost of procurement. The influx of counterfeit and substandard computer chips has a whole division of the Air Force OSI doing nothing but running down the fakes. The failure to maintain some throughput in our manufacturers is the real reason we have $500 toilet seats, when you have to make a one of, it’ll always cost more than an assembly line product. Congress forced a bill through to save the Tomahawk production line and that is critical to pour ability to project power works wide, the Tomahawk can be launched from a variety of platforms against a variety of targets and doesn’t generally put US servicemen at risk.
Well, you know, used to be there wasn’t a whole lot of difference in tooling between a 1939 Hudson and a M-3 Stuart light tank.
That’s not the case anymore on so many levels but FITS went for the cheap shot………….
Yeah, I remember the Tomahawk situation from a number of different angles…
Also, let’s not forget that the vaulted Israeli’s were caught short on munitions after just a few days of combat during the Yom Kippur War. If we hadn’t bailed them out (“Operation Nickel Grass”) they would have either been overrun or nuked Damascus & Cairo right before they went under………
We moved something on the order off 23,000 tons by air in 32 days including everything from bullets to tanks to A-4 Sky Raiders. The Air Force went “all hands on deck” flying everything that would haul a load. The Soviet Union tried to keep up but they were only able to move about 15,000 tons even though they had a shorter distance to fly (they did manage to eventually get 100,000 tons in sea lift moved after the game was all but over)
Supposedly Golda Mier had already begun assembling her nukes in case the U.S.didn’t help out.
I’ve got 6-10 credible books on just that subject………..
“Golda:the Hour of the 3rd Temple is Near” (A direct quote by Moshe Dyan after visiting the front lines and reporting back to Golda Mier on/about 8 October 1973…)
“We can hit Damascus and/or Cairo and POOF!!!! they’d be gone” (a direct quote from the leading nuclear scientist at Domona [sp} – the nuclear weapon facility in the Negev) after Golda Mier asked about exercising “final option” when it looked like the Syrians just might break through in the Golan and take Haifa…….and the Egyptians might just bust out of the Sinai……
Dimona, it’s in the Negev.
I know, that’s why I put (sp) after it. I’m relying on memory not Wikipedia……..fuck I was off just one letter……..and I did spell Negev correctly!!!
I’ve been there(not Dimona – but the Negev)…….on the way to Elat…………
FAS is a little more reliable than wiki… http://fas.org/nuke/guide/israel/nuke/
Whatever……….
So I fucked up on one letter; you know what I was referring to….plus I knew I misspelled it.
And I did it all from memory for what’s that worth…………

“In fact our view of how to handle this problem involves bombs. Lots of them.”
One may wonder at this point is our military preparedness or lack of it, is limited to smart and dumb bombs. Most people would not be surprised to learn that this situation probably
exists across all weapons systems and personnel.
If we were fighting “global warming” and the “Republicans” with our military, I have the feeling our forces would be suffering no shortages.
We have to get back on the right track nationally. Obama’s strategy of unilaterally disarming and backing away from groups and countries that have sworn to kill us is just plain wrong.
We are experiencing the same thing after Carter and Clinton. Remember the “peace dividend” line of bullshit? Si Vis Para Bellum.
We have plenty of nukes already paid for. ;-) reset
I started to mention that, but I think it would be a little bit over the top…
Should have done it a long time ago before they migrated out of the rat’s nest. That is the purpose of war, breaking enough stuff and killing enough people that the ones left don’t want to upset anyone anymore.
Don’t take a knife to a gun fight.
Someone hits you, you hit them back harder. I have no problem with us going nuclear… and no fucking warning letters sent out two weeks prior.
While I tend to favor robust military spending I am NOT a sycophant for the military industrial complex. However, this is a good example of what happens when you shut down production and the real costs associated with starting up again. http://www.heritage.org/research/reports/2014/04/tomahawk-cancellation-an-error-of-defense-strategy-and-alliance-policy
True. Or even better, when Congress gets to decide what money gets spent on. Them new ships are freakin’ helpful now.
We can buy an awful lot of Dunn and smart munitions for what one F-35 costs and we already have the systems to deliver them with.
Yep.
There’s no shortage, there may be a shortage overseas but the Navy has Ammo ships that are floating around the world that have been packed full of munitions since before the Vietnam war.
Operation “Fitsnews Psyops” is in full regalia….!!!
America is not out of Ammo. Heck, wait til our Media starts actually reporting the TRUTH about ISIS and where their banker’s mistress is located at. Don’t tell me ISIS will control who gets satellite internet service and cannot be tracked via a “Rosy the keyboard riveter” at Direct TV or Al Jazeera ..? Anyone with the funds to watch Premier League Futbol in ISIS controlled areas in Syria, Iraq, Nigeria, Algeria, Libya, Somalia or Yemen ………BEWARE…!!!
Will, what happened? You used to be strong. No, we don’t need to bomb them. They are on “our” side. They are basically Sunni Muslims who want to control Iraq and Syria and are receiving money from Saudi Arabia and selling oil through turkey. For those interested, look up Sunni-Shia conflict and “the great game” is another great historical perspective. The other thing to consider is if Russia is no longer commy why ate we still trying to fight them? If we are going to bomb them first we need to cut ties withsaudi Arabia and turkey, otherwise this makes as much since as the fed raise rates while starting another QE. Fighting your enemy with your right hand and assisting him with your left..

Obama conspiracy to be blamed on chicken hawk Lindsey, leaving us ill prepared for defense. Kinda calls to mind Obama agencies with little or no need for armed enforcement, buying up “military assault style” firearms and overstocking on ammunition so that, perhaps Dept of Education or EPA can come and turn Wil’s palatial estate into another Waco… or perhaps to arm and equip jihadists getting passes on visas to serve in Obama reich.
lunatics are running the asylum
