SC “Republicans” Bail On Planned Parenthood Fight

PRO-LIFE ORGANIZATIONS ALSO REFUSING TO STEP IN

At the peak of the Planned Parenthood fetal body parts holocaust, S.C. Speaker of the House Jay Lucas tapped State Representative Donna Hicks (above) of Spartanburg to lead the legislative response to this debacle.

Hicks has done her job – and then some.  Not only that, she’s repeatedly called out politically popular governor Nikki Haley for failing to engage on this issue.

Now that liberal lawmakers are looking to turn the tables on the debate, however, Hicks finds herself a very lonely woman.

Under attack by Democrats for allegedly “fear mongering” on the issue, Hicks is receiving zero support from her “Republican” colleagues or leaders in the pro-life movement.  In fact one liberal “Republican” – S.C. Rep. Gary Clary of Pickens – went so far as to apologize to Democrats for allowing Planned Parenthood to be investigated in the first place.

Really?

Meanwhile Lucas has remained silent – allowing Clary and other liberal lawmakers to sabotage what should have been a slam dunk probe.

“No one has my back,” Hicks told us.

Even where the legislative “investigation” has borne fruit (no thanks to committee members), Lucas appears unwilling to invest any political capital in seeing it through.  In fact several GOP members of the committee are looking to quietly wrap things up without pursuing any action whatsoever against Planned Parenthood.

What a waste of time, energy and tax dollars.

“It’s like it was meant to fail,” Hicks told us.

Meanwhile Haley is still steadfastly refusing to defund Planned Parenthood in South Carolina – and her legislative aides have reportedly sought to put the kibosh on the probe given its recent implication of the S.C. Department of Corrections, one of the agencies in her cabinet.

Basically, all of these GOP leaders are paying lip service to the pro-life movement – hoping its rank-and-file members won’t notice the fact they are doing absolutely nothing of substance to advance the interests of the unborn in the Palmetto State.

Meanwhile “leaders” of the so-called pro-life movement appear perfectly content to let them continue this shell game.  And of course the mainstream media isn’t going to show genuine pro-life advocates like Hicks any love …

Hicks says she’s appalled by the lack of follow-through since she first called on the state to investigate Planned Parenthood and the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC).

“The legislative oversight committee did not investigate,”Hicks told us.  “They asked agencies that were likely complicit with Planned Parenthood to give a report. This was a useless exercise.  The committee wasted a good opportunity to do meaningful and real work.  When asked to step up they proved that they are not able or willing to handle the business of the people and bring transparency to a very dark issue.”

Indeed …

Hicks added that while Clary was a friend of hers and a capable legislator, he “should have never been chosen to chair this committee.”

“He opposed this investigation from the beginning,” she said.

Once again, South Carolina’s political leaders are pretending to be something they’re not – knowing they’ll never be held accountable for it because they have the pro-life “leaders” and the legacy media in their hip pockets.

What a shame …

Lucas and Haley should have taken bold, decisive action in the aftermath of the Planned Parenthood scandal.  They didn’t.  And now they are getting away with their failure to act.

Pro-lifers should be appalled.  More to the point, they should also strongly consider cancelling their donations to groups like S.C. Citizens for Life and contribute to Hicks’ campaign instead.

She seems to be the only one who cares about fighting this fight …

“Borne fruit?” You mean that one instance of a prisoner apparently getting prenatal care, not an abortion? I’m as pro-life as anyone, with no love lost for PP, but you’re just an idiot.

Pro-lifers aren’t pro-life at all. Where are the good moderate Christians gathering to denounce the Radicalized Christian terrorist who attacked the PP here in Colorado Springs, murdering a police officer, an Iraq War Veteran and a young mother of two? You anti-abortion fanatics created that monster and now you have to own him. That’s why those POS, lying, fear mongering assholes aren’t reteating and high tailing it out of town. The GOP has fucked itself soooooo hard getting in bed with these radical religious extremists. Who need ISIS when you have the GOP and it’s followers?

With over one billion dollars in assets and a half a billion of taxpayer dollars ($542.4 million) funding their abortion chain. Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a worldwide force in providing abortions. Although they claim that their ‘Abortion Services’ are only 3% of their medical services, the 333,964 abortions committed provided (using $625 as the average provided by their site) an enormous revenue of over $208,727,500. In addition, the nation’s abortion giant only provided 18,684 prenatal care services (which are not individual patients because one patient can be seen multiple times).

You people are animals. Not even human beings.I love the Democrats and MSM are trying to make this an issue-that means the Nazi like videos of PP will continue to be seenand exposed.

Take down PP and someone else will perform them. It’s free market capitalism you know. There’s a product. A demand for the product. And it’s a legal product.

Take it down? No.Just take the half BILLION $$$$’s of taxpayer money they get and distribute to private agencies that try and protect mothers and their babies.

It will still get spent the same way. Demand, supply, sperm meet egg. You do realize Federal funds cannot be spent on providing pregnancy terminations – right? Hyde!!!! Amendment!!!!!

You sound exactly like the terrorist who killed those wonderful, productive members of society here in Colorado Springs. And your from SC, just like him as well. Could you pieces of shit stay there in SC? You’re type of speech already created Dylan Roof…now you have to import your terrorists to other states?

If you want to reveal any connection between the Colorado shooter and pro-life groups, please go ahead. These evil events hurt pro-life efforts and are used by the pro-abortion groups and Mia McLeod to try and silence pro-lifers.

Couldn’t the same argument be use against “Black Lives Matter” when ever a cop is gunned down?

When your lies are causing people to murder police, veterans and mothers. You need to be held accountable. Free speech doesn’t mean the speaker is free from the consequences…especially when those lies incite crazy people to terroristic acts.

Bible Thumper December 2, 2015 at 2:46 pm

If you are specific. Give me an example, of a Pro-life group or individual advocating violence or hatred, then I will condemned it. (A quote and link will help)

If you are just using this terrible incident to condemn all pro-life advocacy, then I condemn you.

tomstickler December 2, 2015 at 2:52 pm

The fact that this refers to an event that happened in 1996 merely shows how circumspect the violent anti-abortion people have since become. You may quibble over the semantic difference between “advocating” future acts and “praising” past acts, but only a deliberately obtuse person could fail to see the connection.

His first wife says this isn’t the first time he’s targeted a PP. His second wife described him as religious and anti-abortion. He was passing out anti-Obama pamphlets to his neighbors here in Colorado. It’s funny how hard, and unsuccessfully, those who share these same views are trying to make this into ANYTHING but what it actually is….domestic terrorism from a radicalized white christian. He’s your creation and you people are the ones destroying this country. Please, keep your terrorists from immigrating to Colorado!

See the chart. Second only to Islamic terrorist is Secular/Political/Anarchist. Christian Extremists are 2% of their number. No one denies it was “domestic terrorism from a radicalized white Christian”. But there has been no connection made to any anti-abortion group or any anti-abortion group advocating violence. Anyone with a printer can make a pamphlet or drop by an organization and pick them up (I’m sure you will find some obscure voice that is spurned by most pro-life advocates)
Do you suggest that opponents of police violence, by their rhetoric, are promoting domestic terrorism, every time a cop is gunned down?

Cops getting shot by deranged Christians are martyrs to the cause. That’s what the extremist Muslims believe when they kill their own people, why wouldn’t extremist Christians believe the same?

You have to ask, Is Hicks effective or is it merely grandstanding?
The vidio revelations at PP happened in other states. You can’t use the government’s regulatory powers to harass an industry no matter how vile that industry may be.

As disgusting as it may be, the state’s regulations were designed to protect the health of the born, not the pre-born. Attempts to use them to protect the unborn will be stuck down by the courts.

Just like trying to use DHEC to protect Charleston and Jasper from competition from Savannah is wrong. DHEC is to protect our health and environment, not the economic interest of Charleston and Jasper.

Nikki Haley is a disgrace. She refuses to stand with the pro-life movement and the people that elected her 2x’s despite her character failings YET stood with the Democrat Party racists and bigots that infiltrated SC and blackmailed the state into taking the confederate flag down.

When I travel I never fail to tell those in the ‘political’ world what a fraud she is as a politician while she poses as a conservative.

Tom Ervin was RIGHT about this woman and she would destroy ANY national political ticket.

The vast majority of Republicans in the SC Senate and House voted to remove the battle flag. Haley’s popularity has improved since then.

GOP Will Never Kill Abortion December 2, 2015 at 10:50 am

Republicans talk about abortion to get the value voters but they’ll never slay the beast. It’s tempting because the resulting population boom means more poor people to fight their wars, but most will vote Democrat and we can’t have that.

Perhaps Hicks will realize what Democrats have always known, the ONLY issue that Republicans REALLY care about is cutting taxes for the wealthy. Anything else, they don’t much care, except as a means to whip the base into a frenzie

When this “baby parts” issue first surfaced on FitsNews (https://www.fitsnews.com/2015/07/14/planned-parenthoods-kermit-gosnell-moment/) on 14 July 2015, I predicted the ultimate collapse of this phony scandal.

“This thread is now just ten hours old and is about to slide off the “front page” and is already starting to unravel.

Of course, a few of our dumber Republican presidential aspirants lost no time jumping on this bandwagon — Jeb! and Rick Perry come to mind. They will never admit they were chumped, so bear that in mind when voting in the primary.

A few of the real commenters — by “real” I mean the ones with the self-respect to have a Disqus account, not the sock-puppets, cowards and trolls stinking the place up as “guest” — have also rushed to judgement and lost a little luster in my estimation.

Nothing has happened since to change that post.

Too bad that a phony story continued to be repeated over and over by political exploiters and led to tragic consequences.

Reply
Bible Thumper December 2, 2015 at 2:56 pm

“led to tragic consequences”
Yes. Tragic. But that does not lessen the tragedy of babies being aborted. If it was not a tragedy, then the harvesting of baby parts would be no more controversial than picking tomatoes. If fact it would be hailed by Democrats as assisting medical research for cures. I don’t see Democrats lining up to praise this activity. They just talk about this issue being a proxy to deny women’s rights. They rarely defend baby harvesting.
