Dear Editor,

Reasonable, compassionate people, and many experts who work with refugees, agree that victims of the Islamic Caliphate, perpetrated by Islamists in the Middle East, need help.

However, the incidents in Paris on November 13, 2015, clearly demonstrate the inherent dangers of allowing compassion to override prudence. It’s now apparent, even to the most zealous proponents of refugee resettlements, that Islamic jihadists are concealing themselves among those refugees.

Consequently, any “help” should come in the form of temporary assistance, and a secure living environment in their native countries, or in a neighboring country, until they are able to return safely to their homes.

Current efforts to vet refugees from the Middle East are woefully inadequate and completely ineffective.

Experts from the FBI and NSA say there is simply no reliable way to accomplish that task successfully. As a result, some of those refugees represent a clear and present danger to us and our communities.

Therefore, for the foreseeable future, the U.S. Congress should deny entry for all refugees, especially those from the Middle East, and demand that the United Nations pursue a more prudent, and less expensive, mechanism for providing safe havens for those fleeing the Islamist fanatics. The UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) should not be creating an imperative, wherein these unfortunate people have to leave their homelands and unique cultures, and travel halfway around the world, to a place with a distinctly different set of values and beliefs. This is wrongheaded, and outrageously expensive. Some say we could provide “local” assistance for 200 refugees for the same cost as transporting one refugee from there to care for him here!

If other countries in their “neighborhood” find it too risky to welcome them for a short stay, shouldn’t we be, at least, as cautious? Paris is tragic evidence of what can happen when vigilance is relaxed, and compassion overrides prudent precautions.

Sincerely,

Ron Tamaccio

Also, anyone practicing the Islamic faith, not born in this country should be deported to their native country. Muslims born here should be kept under a microscope. I understand freedom of religion, however, under the current circumstances, a person who considers Christians to be infidels should be closely watched. Our country was not founded by infidels. Our constitution was not written by infidels.

Why not deport the ones born in this country as well?

Why not put them in internment camps until they can be processed?

Why not make them “disappear” altogether?

The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus by the Supreme Being in the womb of a virgin, will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. … But we may hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with all this artificial scaffolding….

Ahhhhh, the snarky hissing of a demonic viper is heard right on cue. Hiss away, oh desperate one, for you were defeated long ago and your predictions are null and void.

I sincerely pray you one day find THE inner peace.

Actually this quote was taken from the book Letters of Thomas Jefferson, which were all written by Jefferson himself. So this quote is not fake, unless you are saying someone forged letters written by him.

If they were Christians that advocated killing infidels (atheists, liberals), you’d be buying them tickets out of the U.S.

I know Dr Oz pushes some medical quackery on his TV show, but I doubt he has plans to commit jihad. Muhammad Ali might need some help in any plans of destruction due to his physical health. We can keep a vigilant eye on Fareed Zakaria since he has a show on CNN. Casey Kasem died last year so need to worry about him any longer.

An awful lot of deportation – 5-8 million Muslims and 11-12 million undocumented. Maybe that’s why Buffett invested into trains.

We have zero reason to resettle the few when for less money we could feed the many OVER THERE. The UNHCR etc are underfunded and this is an ideal opportunity to use them for their intended purpose. The vast amount of money we’d spend keeping Syrians on welfare in the US could be used to HELP many thousands more. Too bad Mick Mulvaney wants to sell us out with the feeble excuse that DHS could somehow do background checks on refugees coming from a country in the middle of a multi-directional civil war. Let the EU take them as its laws obligate it to. The US already provides all the military heavy lifting in the region. That “milfare” comes out of American taxpayer wallets.

The problem with keeping them “OVER THERE” is that “OVER THERE” things tend to get shooty and explodey.

Not our problem and it needs to stay that way!

So they need to learn to fight back for what is their’s instead of running away from it. Americans didn’t seek refuge in another country during the civil war, they fought for what they believed in. Did a lot of people lose lives and loved ones, yes, but that’s what happens during war.

Think about how this, if we redirect all of the foreign aid to the U.S., we could help the recent flood victims who really need help. When the hell are we gonna focus on OUR country versus those who won’t solve their own. It is a fact that you cannot solve someone else’s problems, they have to do it!

Gov Pence refused settlement of a couple with a 5 year old child in Indiana. Article says they have been going thru the screening process for 3 years. The governor of CT is letting them settle in his state. I personally wouldn’t want to live in either state.

the plane ticket alone makes this a non starter. In no way does this make any economic sense. give all the men who came to europe, without families, 12 weeks of basic training and a firearm, basic personal armor and send them back. If we did accept any it should be families, im guessing they would be less likely to be a terrorist, and sponsored by some group or couple willing to help assimilate, so they are not some randoms in a government program.

Wow such good “Christians” y’all are. Check the facts, the perpetrators of Paris were all citizens of the EU, not refugees. You are more likely to be shot in a mass shooting because of our idiotic gun laws, than having any of these refugee families attack you.

All but one were born to immigrant Muslims. Wanting to protect our fellow countrymen (including deniers like yourself) has nothing to do with Christianity. The intellectually lazy just use the straw man argument because they teach it in 8th grade.

Your facts are wrong! Not unusual when emotion overrides intellect. Check what’s going on in Belgium if you doubt that terrorists are hiding among the refugees. They are cowards.

Ron is a shithead. Equating the US vetting process with thousands of people simply walking into Europe is retarded. the idea that a terrorist would go through our refugee vetting process instead of coming on a tourist, students or professional visa is absurd on its face. shitheads please note: as french and belgian citizens, none of the paris attackers needed a visa to come to the US. just a plane ticket.
