NATIONAL RECALIBRATION IN THE WORKS?

The last time Nikki Haley made us this dizzy … you know what, never mind.

South Carolina’s governor – who has done multiple ideological 180s since getting elected in 2010 – has emerged during the current presidential election as one of the “Republican” party’s establishment top establishment counterpunchers.

Curious, then, that the liberal national media still wants to portray her as coming from the right flank of the increasingly left-leaning GOP.

(Seriously … did they forget she endorsed Mitt Romney?)

Anyway, according to a story in this week’s editions of The Washington Post – which loves to move the nation’s political spectrum to the left – the fiscally liberal Haley remains a go-to-gal for all things Tea Party.

In discussing the staying power of unconventional GOP presidential frontrunners Donald Trump and Ben Carson, Haley was introduced by Post reporters Philip Rucker and Robert Costa as “an outsider who rode the tea party wave into office five years ago.”

She then launched into a spleen-venting against the very establishment “Republicans” in Washington, D.C. whose crony capitalist policies she has embraced.

“You have a lot of people who were told that if we got a majority in the House and a majority in the Senate, then life was gonna be great,” Haley told the reporters. “What you’re seeing is that people are angry. Where’s the change? Why aren’t there bills on the president’s desk every day for him to veto? They’re saying, ‘Look, what you said would happen didn’t happen, so we’re going to go with anyone who hasn’t been elected.’?”

That’s an accurate diagnosis … we’re just amazed Haley wasn’t struck by lightning when she offered it.

Of course she hasn’t been struck by lightning yet …

We wonder: Is Haley finally coming to grips with the reality that the national establishment frontrunners she’s been cheerleading for are kaput this election cycle?

And if so … where does that leave her and that coveted “First in the South” presidential endorsement she’s keeping in her back pocket?

A woman was pregnant with triplets and they were inside of her talking amongst each other. The first one said, “When I get out of here and grow up, I want to be a cave
explorer because I want to know why it’s so dark in here.” The second one said, “When I get out of here and grow up, I want to be an aqua diver because I want to know why it’s so wet in here.” “Well,” said the third one,”

So FITS is saying that Tea Party inspired voters are dumb enough to believe someone telling them Obama was going to sign legislation passed by the Republican Congress that is in conflict with his goals and priorities? I’d love for BO to sign a repeal of BOcare, rollback of EPA regs gone wild and so on. I’ve never thought he would, however. We did elect enough Republicans to stop parts of his agenda, and that was victory. The GOP winning the White House is all that matters in 2016. Nominate the wrong person, and you’ll be looking at four more years of BO policies and then some.

I’ll support any GOP nominee over Mz. Clinton. As with any Primary Election, some candidates stand a better chance of defeating her than others in the General Election. Are you so stupid as to not understand that concept?

Reply
Supplying Laughs November 13, 2015 at 10:53 am

You think Trump, Carson or Cruz have any chance against Hillary?
Saying “Any of them” is stupid, when you claim “The GOP winning the White House is all that matters in 2016”. Those three stand no chance. So, if you are serious, give us a name or two who might actually stand a chance?

Reply
Superfly November 13, 2015 at 11:04 am

What I said regarding a candidate is this: “Nominate the wrong person, and you’ll be looking at four more years of BO policies and then some.” I don’t know who the right candidate is, at this point. That is what campaigns are for. Based on what I’ve seen so far I do think Trump and Carson would lose in a General Election. I’ve never been a fan of Cruz, so I’m not sure if that clouds my judgement on his changes in Nov ’16, or not. I do know he’s extremely smart, and he likely has the intellectual capacity to transition his candidacy. If the election were held today, I’d not vote for either of those three. Of course the Primary in SC is not today, so I’m evaluating all the candidates and will know when I know. This is not a beauty contest, and who knows what will happen domestically or internationally that could turn this GOP Primary on its head. In politics, two weeks is a long time. I’m not voting for Hilliary I know that much, and as you’re a Democrat, I’m not much interested in what your evaluation of our candidates is.

Supplying Laughs November 13, 2015 at 11:37 am

So you can’t name a single candidate you’d support? There have been 4 debates. We all know what the individual GOP candidates stand for. Bush? Rubio? Those two may be your only two choices. Both will be destroyed in a debate with Hillary. Any of them will. The GOP has no accomplishments to run on. Returning to 2008 is hardly going to excite voters. I can see why you can’t name a candidate you’d support.

Superfly November 13, 2015 at 11:50 am

We have more debates coming, much more campaigning. I like our chances in Nov. 2016 with most of our candidates. I’m uninterested in Democrats advising me or the GOP how to determine our nominee. As dumb as you are, I understand why you’re all in for Mz. Clinton.

Supplying Laughs November 13, 2015 at 3:36 pm

Dumb? You can’t answer a simple question.
I bet you are uninterested in a Democrat educating you, but here we are…

Superfly November 13, 2015 at 4:05 pm

Sure, you’re so damn dumb you seriously think Republicans are open to your advice on whom we should nominate.

You should be far more concerned with what independent voters think. Latest polling data from Quinnipiac reports that 60% independent voters believe Mz. Clinton is “untrustworthy” and she’s doing poorly in several swing states.

You need to be more concerned with your flawed candidate, and not our Primary process.

Hammerhead Sharky November 13, 2015 at 11:25 am

Trump,Carson,Rubio and Cruz would all defeat Clinton. She can’t get over 47% and is even running behind in such BLUE states as Minnesota.

Obama destroyed the Democrat Party.

Eventually, the Obama administration managed to get 23 co-ops in operation by the time of the October 2013 rollout of the Obamacare exchanges. Thanks to the risk corridor and reinsurance provisions within the ACA, those co-ops survived the first two full years of the program, albeit with the same premium pricing issues that other insurers experienced. However, the so-called “cromnibus” bill that resolved the FY2015 budget restricted HHS’ risk-corridor funding only to monies collected for that purpose, rather than through the agency’s budget or other revenue sources. And that is when the house of cards began to tumble.

Predictably, the financial model that critics warned would lead to a death spiral for insurers hit the co-ops first.

As it turns out, the non-profit co-op model for health insurance turns out to be unsustainable without government subsidies. More than half of the co-ops have been shut down this year, and nine of the 12 have shut down since October 1, either by HHS or by the states in which they operate. Over a billion dollars in loans and and backstop payments have been lost. The latest failure to be announced was in Michigan, where Consumers Mutual Insurance announced Tuesday that it would not sell insurance for 2016. The failure of these dozen co-ops has left nearly 750,000 consumers in the cold, looking for a plan from a traditional insurer at a higher price.

Hammerhead Sharky November 13, 2015 at 12:40 pm

Obamacare premium costs will soar 20.3 percent on average in 2016 instead of the 7.5 percent increase claimed by federal officials, according to an analysis by The Daily Caller News Foundation.

The discrepancy is because the government excluded price data for three of the four Obamacare health insurance plans when the officials issued their recent forecast claiming enrollees would face only a 7.5 percent average rate increase in 2016.

Hammerhead Sharky November 13, 2015 at 12:34 pm

Nearly half of all ObamaCare co-ops have collapsed – more could fail by year’s end

Critics said that healthcare co-ops set up to dispense “free” medical care to the nation’s uninsured under ObamaCare would collapse and, so far, nearly half of them have – leaving millions of “insured” Americans with nowhere to go when accidents or illnesses strike.

The states that have seen their ObamaCare co-ops financially collapse include Utah, Kentucky, New York, Nevada, Louisiana, Oregon, Colorado, Tennessee, South Carolina and a co-op that served both Iowa and Nebraska.

The failures, which have come more quickly than even those who opposed to ObamaCare originally predicted, have proved one thing. Despite the way ObamaCare was rushed through Congress and signed into law by President Obama or the way low-income voters cast their ballots on Election Day, healthcare isn’t free.

And the bloodletting isn’t over.

Hammerhead Sharky November 13, 2015 at 12:36 pm

A key piece of the Obama administration’s plan to control the health insurance market is in a state of collapse. With it will go the philosophical underpinning of big government solutions to private-sector problems–and that will pose a core question for voters in the upcoming national elections.
