I spend many hours a week making/dealing with scholarship offers to kids and am exquisitely, excruciatingly careful to explain exactly what I’d talking about and what each part means.

My department at USC is hiring this year. We have screened over 150 apps so far. Excluding two applicants who were clearly African, I don’t remember a single instance thus far where the CV had any info suggesting that the applicant was a black person (i.e. minority fellowship in college, membership in a black fraternity, NAACP involvement etc.) We would be thrilled to hire a qualified black professor – but the supply in my field is negligible. Good luck with Mizzou hiring more black faculty.

After his removal, a new amendment to thd UM system policies must be established to have all future UM system president and Chancellor positions be selected by a collective of students, staff, and faculty of diverse backgrounds.
3. We demand that the University of Missouri meets the Legion of Black Collegians’ demands that were presented in the 1969 for the betterment of the black community.
4. We demand that the University of Missouri creates and enforces comprehensive racial awareness and inclusion curriculum throughout all campus departments and units, mandatory for all students, faculty, staff and administration. This curriculum must be vetted, maintained, and overseen by a board comprised of students, staff and faculty of color.
5. We demand that by the academic year 2017-18, the University of Missouri increases the percentage of black faculty and staff members campus-wide by 10 percent.
6. We demand that the University of Missouri composes a strategic 10-year plan on May, 1 2016 that will increase retention rates for marginalized students, sustain diversity curriculum and training, and promote a more safe and inclusive campus.
7. We demand that the University of Missouri increases funding and resources for the University of Missouri Counseling Center for the purpose of hiring additional mental health professionals, particularly those of color, boosting mental health outreach and programming across campus, increasing campus-wide awareness and visibility of the counseling center, and reducing lengthy wait times for prospective clients.

Among the facts not mentioned by Fits was the assault of the African-American Dean of Students by white perpetrators, cotton balls strewn about the Black Student Union, the failure of University officials to take action against a white student who interrupted rehearsal by a black theater group by shouting racial epitaphs, etc.
This is not a case of political correctness gone awry; far from it. It is about a group of students who were forced to take action against University officials who turned a blind eye and chose to ignore numerous race based incidents involving its African-American students.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — President Barack Obama’s plan to protect from deportation an estimated 5 million people living in the United States illegally has suffered another setback in court.
In a 2-1 decision, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans upheld a Texas-based judge’s injunction blocking the Obama administration’s immigration initiative.
Republicans had criticized the plan as an illegal executive overreach when Obama announced it last November. Twenty-six states challenged the plan in court.
The administration argued that the executive branch was within its rights in deciding to defer deportation of selected groups of immigrants.
Part of the initiative included expansion of a program called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, protecting young immigrants from deportation if they were brought to the U.S. illegally as children.

When you allow a football team to control the President and Chancellor of a major State Funded College; it’s time to shut down that program.
College is for education, not as a NFL feeder system and local entertainment program.
Especially, since nearly all NCAA major Football teams are losing money and massively in debt, example USC is over $150 million in debt right now. These debts are backed ultimately by the taxpayers of each State.
Maybe they should hire the former President of SC State. He could finish running the Mizzou Collage into the ground like he did at SC State. By the way, What did the University of Mizzou President do to deserve resigning? The students never did say.
