“YOU ARE RIPPING US OFF, SENATOR”
A Florida newspaper that endorsed Marco Rubio‘s bid for the U.S. Senate in 2010 is now calling on him to resign – accusing him of ripping off Sunshine State residents by missing too many votes.
“You are paid $174,000 per year to represent us, to fight for us, to solve our problems,” the editorial board of The Sun-Sentinel wrote. “Plus you take a $10,000 federal subsidy – declined by some in the Senate – to participate in one of the Obamacare health plans, though you are a big critic of Obamacare.”
“You are ripping us off, senator,” the board concludes.
Ouch …
According to the editorial, Rubio has missed fifty-nine U.S. Senate votes since becoming a presidential candidate. By comparison, U.S. Senators Rand Paul of Kentucky and Bernie Sanders of Vermont have missed only ten votes during their campaigns for the White House.
“Rubio has missed more votes than any other senator this year,” the editorial added. “His seat is regularly empty for floor votes, committee meetings and intelligence briefings.”
Rubio’s excuse? That his presidential campaign is more important than his U.S. Senate votes … which he has said isn’t
“Voting is not the only part of the Senate job,” Rubio recently told CNN. “I mean, the most important thing a senator does is constituent service. We’re still involved in looking out for Florida’s issues.”
The Sun-Sentinel is having none of that argument, calling it “unpersuasive.”
Most damning to Rubio? The paper pulled a floor speech from two weeks ago in which he ripped workers at the scandal-scarred Veterans Affairs (VA) administration for failing to do their jobs.
“There is really no other job in the country where if you don’t do your job, you don’t get fired,” Rubio said.
Actually the head of the VA did get fired … (well, he resigned).
Ironically, our website’s problem with Rubio isn’t the votes he’s missed … it’s the ones he’s taken.
For example, he was the deciding vote in the U.S. Senate in support of president Barack Obama’s crony capitalist trade deal.
Seriously: Why couldn’t he have bailed during that vote?
This website once viewed Rubio with tremendous promise, but by the time he got around to announcing his presidential bid back in April we were done with him. Looks like other media outlets that once supported him feel the same, albeit for different reasons.

Rubio now stands at 6%
Homeless fella at Hospital Exit off I-26 now stands at 12%
Nothing beats the sound of a Fuckin’ Cockroach being crunched under the shoe leather of taxpayers
Could you make that quote into a T shirt?
I’ll buy one!
No worries. He’s not running for re-election and his Senate seat is polling to fall to the Dems – so he’ll be out on his butt soon enough. Then it’s $250K a year for Fox appearances, $15K a speech, a nice house in McLean VA and bye bye Miami.
Besides, he’s so disliked in FL even his own mother wouldn’t vote for him.
Rubio is a typical Republican hypocrite.
Simply put, citizens or uninformed and or stupid. It can be no plainer if you really watch what is happening. If a person is running for President they will stay on the road. People did not complain about Obama voting Present over 80% of the time. But I suppose Marco is not dark enough to get away with it!
Despite the racist flavor of your comment, the truth is Rubio has admitted to having “quit” on his job. from the Washington Post:
“I don’t know that ‘hate’ is the right word,” Rubio said in an interview. “I’m frustrated.” “That’s why I’m missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection…”
As a so-called “conservative” isn’t there a discrepancy in taking the taxpayers’ money and not doing the job to which you were elected? If he has the strength of his convictions, let him resign to run for president. Wouldn’t that be the honorable path? This has NOTHING to do with Obama. The “He did it too” or “lookit him too” justification is a sure sign of a weak argument.
Not exactly a “running it out” kind of baseball player. Not much of a guy for “finishing off the play” despite throwing footballs around. A real “role model” of an individual who wants to be President. What happens when he gets frustrated with being President. Oh Holy Crap.
At least HALF GOV Palin had the BALLS to quit!
YOU BETCHA!
I SEE HYPOCRITS IN MY MIRROR!
Anyone that supports or voted for Obama can’t say a word about Rubio. If Obama has shown us anything, it’s that you don’t need to show up for work….or really accomplish anything of note….to be elected President.
Caption: Marco walking in real America – “Dude, where do you shop for cloths, Sears? That tie is like 1986. And that shirt! Ever hear of cotton? And what, this is it? This is your town? Dang, this place sucks. I want to get back to Miami.”
For someone who tries incessantly at humorous remarks, I would think you would hit the mark at least once in while. Your so unfunny. Guinea trash
Watsa matta which you.
He needs to quit and open a hairdressing salon in South Beach. He is so cute he will get all the boys in there.
Who is paying you for the Rubio hit pieces?
Surely, these people knew this little con artist’s history in the Florida legislature when they endorsed him…they got what they deserved.
