THIS IS WHY THE AMERICAN DREAM IS DEAD …

Donald Trump recently said the American Dream was dead – and new data from the Federal Reserve backs him up.

According to the St. Louis Fed – one of the secretive central bank tentacles driving our country deeper into a sustained economic malaise – a whopping 48.8 percent of 25-year-old Americans live at home with their parents.

That’s up from 25 percent back in 1999 …

And we wonder why economic growth hasn’t topped four percent since 2000?  Yeah … this would be why.

So what gives?  Aside from these kids lacking a decent education, obviously …

According to the government, it’s three things …

The labor market …

The housing market …

And student loan debt …

Yeah …

In other words, three things the government has been manipulating for years …

Want to rebuild the U.S. economy?  Revive the American dream?  Then you’ve got to kill unnecessary government intervention in the free market …

Scientists have tampered with the food supply so damn much that they inadvertently invented the un-cutable umbilical cord. So many with no prospects of an independent life, just hoovering around Mom and Dad waiting on inheritance.

Squishy123 October 27, 2015 at 6:04 pm

And since Mom and Dad are supporting the little bastards until they’re 40, there is likely little inheritance left.

If they have a mom and a dad they aren’t bastards. But how would you know? You are a parent. Surely, there’s some lonely hag that’ll let you knock her up.

I’m in business. I talk to advertisers, retailers and wholesalers everyday. They tell me (and have told me) the economy collapsed in 2008, and NOTHING has been done, on a federal level. to correct it. In fact, Obamacare will do significant (more) damage when it’s full-blown…

Personally my contract are Fewer, and pay about 60% for the same work as they did 7 years ago.

Also: I have a household, for which I paid a $500 utility bill in July. I had a $480 utility bill in February (short month.) The most I EVER paid before Obama was elected for monthly utilities was $280.Obama is Killing coal, regulating and fining nuclear, and WE are paying for it…

And: From 2009, until this spring, a gallon of gas has been well over $3. Except for the last 6 months or so of Bush’s last term, gas per gallon- under Bush- averaged under $2 (for 7-plus years)…

My family health insurance costs have doubled monthly…and I pay EVERYTHING at the doctor’s office, now, out of pocket. The EXPENSIVE health insurance is WORTHLESS..

Jobs: I know many people in my neighborhood who have lost their job…and have had to take much lower-paying, and in many cases PT, jobs.

In addition to that: I KNOW, because I grocery shop, food prices are Double under Obama (since 2008) compared to what they were under W.

My taxes are higher, and I’m told by my council-person…that w/ a sour economy (which I witness) local governments have less revenue flow…so htey have to get it from somewhere.

We’re in a FUCKING mess. America is not supposed to be anemic like this. We are hardworking and bold people. Obama, and the polices of the Democrats are strangling us. And all he cares about is gay marriage and hating white cops.

I don’t need some news filter to tell me what I KNOW to be true, because I see it every day.

Yikes! October 27, 2015 at 6:57 pm

Damn, SC is a mess, but that’s SC’s fault.
Oh well, sorry to hear how bad things have gotten there over the last several years.
You do keep electing the same people over and over, so…..
At least y’all finally got it together and took the flag down. Good job.
Maybe you’ll finally get a bowl game Clemson can play in.

You pay a total of 400-500 a month for all utilities? If so, that’s not a big deal if you live in a house. That’s about what I pay monthly for electric, gas, phone, water-garbage-sewer and cable. If your electric bill is running you 500 a month you need a new heating and air unit.
Whahahahah about your medical insurance mine has been increasing by 10% yearly before Obama was ever elected. And my auto and home insurance has been steadily increasing for years. Thank the state Dept of Insurance for approving all these rate hikes.

There isn’t a state in America were a minimum wage job will pay the rent.
Unfortunately, that where most college graduates have to start until they find something in their field. That can take awhile sometimes. Mix that with outrageous loan payments. I have a few friends with kids in their early twenties. They are working their asses off, looking for better paying jobs in their field and can’t afford to rent a place. They are actually helping pay the bills at home. I never hear their parents complain to me…and they definitely would. That’s just the reality for kids today. You can’t compare it to even 20 years ago. Totally different economic climate.

Actually children are not living with their parents at an historically high rate. Before the 20th century, multiple generations under one roof was common. Families had to live together, as most Americans were poor.
The came the new deal middle class post WWII boom. The average American got use to success during the middle part of the 20th century. There were good jobs, factory workers were becoming successful middle class people. Unions obtained high wages for workers. The children of middle class Americans were finally going to college and becoming educated. State supported schools and the GI Bill made the cost of college reasonable. Life was good. Children did not need to live at home.
Then trickle down hit. Pretty much all the success middle class America achieved during the middle of the 20the century has been wiped out since 1980. All of that has happened almost exclusively as a result of Republican policies. Take from the middle give to the rich. Cut the taxes of the rich and cut the programs that made the average American successful.

As opposed to those poor destitute Democrat party leaders.

I bet those rich Republicans pay more taxes for fewer benefits than you do.

Reply
Bob October 27, 2015 at 6:22 pm

Who said anything about Democratic Party leaders being destitute? This comment makes no sense. Of course a rich person pays more in total dollars than a middle class person. But under our system, rich people pay less as a percentage of their income and their wealth than a middle class person. That was cemented in place during the Bush years.
Also, lets define benefits. People who own defense contracting firms get a hell of a lot of benefits from the government. People who own trucking companies get a hell of a lot of benefit for their tax dollars. That is the problem with Republicans. They want to pretend everyone benefits equally from Government. When rich people benefit a hell of a lot more than middle class and poor people.
I work, I pay taxes, but I benefit a hell of a lot less from Government than say the Koch Brothers.

The biggest difference is the kids worked and helped provide for the family. Today the kids sit in their bedrooms online or on their cell phones and are a burden to the family. I know several families who have had kids leave home and make it out on their own, some went to school, some went to work.

Reply
Bob October 27, 2015 at 6:09 pm

Hog wash. There are plenty of kids who help out. They are not all sitting in their bed rooms on cell phones. Most do not want to live at home. They have part or full time jobs working as waiters, waitresses, day cares, etc. Many do have minimum wage jobs. Minimum wage is 30% lower today than it was in the 1960 and 70s. Most kids are not living at home permanently. Also, many families who cannot afford to send their kids away to school, because their good job was outsourced, are having them stay home and go to local colleges and tech schools.

stumpknocker October 27, 2015 at 6:36 pm

when i was a kid it was legal to drink and drive, i remember having a cold one in my lap at license check, parents would open up their lake house or beach house for a party with the rule being everybody stay off the road. the logic was we were going to have keggers anyway, better we stay in one place than go off some where and be driving all over the place.

Squishy123 October 27, 2015 at 6:37 pm

You must have hung out with the rich kids… everyone has beach houses or lake houses.

Squishy123 October 27, 2015 at 6:29 pm

Squishy123 October 27, 2015 at 6:17 pm

Bullshit, at home they have a personal cook, maid, no rent/mortgage or utility payments and aren’t expected to help out. Why are they taking minimum wage jobs? There are decent paying jobs out there for anyone who wants a job. Problem is kids don’t want to work, or want to start out in the Executive Suite, because anything below that is considered demeaning to them.

Look at some of the higher manufacturing companies around Columbia, Siemens recently stated that they have to go out of state to fill positions because they can’t find qualified employees to fill positions in SC… and we’re talking about jobs that start out at $40-$50k. Midlands Tech has two year programs for HVAC techs, welders, nursing, CISCO network administration… many with internships. But nope, gotta go to USCe and get a degree in Sports Management or Sociology instead.

Her boyfriend is doing the same thing. They both just needed some time to get things together. You are stereotyping a diverse group of people. Just because kids need a little time doesn’t mean they are lazy video game players. In your own comment you call kids lazy and then turned around and say you know many kids who have left home. Which is it?

It’s our fault. We gave them everything they wanted. Why should they move out, they got their xBox, cable, wifi, laptop, iPhone, there’s munchies in the fridge, and the cops won’t shoot ’em for smoking a bong hit in the bathroom.

Housing market is bad? Hmmm…I just got a contract on my house for sale in 6 days, after a year to year 7% increase in price.

Thank GT I don’t live in Columbia.

7% more?…after the avg. home price has dropped 30% under Obama….

You still lose 23% of your total wealth…you must be a student of Obama-nomics if you are jerking off over that deal…you fucking Democrat Dumbass.

Home prices crashed under Bush not Obama. Remember the Bush mini-depression. The home price crash was 2006 to 2009, dumb ass.

Obama was elected in 2008. House prices CRASHED in 09 thru 12. And really have never recovered.

And the reason they crashed was the Democrat-Clinton initiative known as the Community Reinvestment Act..that forced banks to make bad loans, based on home-owner equality instead of good sense. Banks either gave the money away, or faced Race-Hate penalties from liberal politicians. Look at what it did to Detroit…and other leftwing hellholes…

Bull shit. You can’t rewrite history. Only an idiot does not know the real estate market peeked in 2006 and went down hill from there until the market turned around under Obama. You are stupid. Banks were never forced to make bad loans. The collapse in real estate resulted from the collapse in the economy.

TARevolution October 27, 2015 at 6:39 pm

Educate yourself…you hoplessly ignorant Fuck..

When Reality slaps the shit out you…you just make shit up, don’t you?

Jack October 27, 2015 at 6:44 pm

What a total idiot you are. You take an article from a right wing rag and pretend it is not biased and looking for excuses for the Bush fuck up. Even worse its dated 2009 and talking about the real estate crash, which shows you don’t know what the hell you are talking about. The crash occurred under Bush you fool. Your own article proves it.

TARevolution October 27, 2015 at 6:57 pm

You can’t teach a FOOL…you prove that. You’re too fucking stupid to learn. Stay ignorant, so the Democrats will still love you…

Mike October 27, 2015 at 8:10 pm

Dude, your own link proves you wrong.
Glad you don’t vote. It would be too hard for you.

TARevolution October 27, 2015 at 10:52 pm

The link was for you Dumbass. I know history. I don’t need for myths to be fed to me, like the dolts of the Democrat Party…

flip October 27, 2015 at 11:35 pm

I have an ailing loved one and a tough evening.Just read your comments on this thread and I thank you for putting a smile on my face tonight! Brilliant and funny.Ya piss em off to the point they can do nothing but humiliate themselves.

TARevolution October 28, 2015 at 6:38 am

Thanks flip. I pray all will be well in your personal life. I don’t think these immature, unaccountable and reckless liberals have any idea how much more stress and difficulty they add to the lives of the responsible people, who make this country work, so they can play.

Sadly, I’m afraid we’ll have to have a major crash before the more-intelligent and industrious of us, can get any political redress. Right now we’re being governed by ignorance and hate perpetuated by bad people…

GT/TArevolution/Flip. Really, the Sybil stuff is starting again. Go and take your meds. We all know you are the same person. If you want to carry on a conversation with yourself do it in your on basement. Get a job.

stumpknocker October 27, 2015 at 6:46 pm

i wish you would do the same

E Norma Scok October 29, 2015 at 6:41 am

I think you missed it there, sport. I said year to year 7% increase; I’ve been here 4 years and that’s 28% more than i paid for it.

Yeah, I’m pretty pleased with that.

So you’re one of the GREEDY-Bastard manipulators who bought someone’s home at FIRE SALE prices, imposed by the Rotten Obama economy…then fucked some poor under-paid family, struggling under the misery state of America, because of an inept president???..

Thanks for telling us what a low-dog piece of Selfish Shit you are…

And yet another swing and a miss.

I don’t live in shitville, USA like you do apparently. Unless the builder was giving it away, and i highly doubt that, my house appreciated.

Just because you live in some hovel in a slum and can;t give away your dwelling, doesn’t mean everyone does.
