THIRD-PLACE CANDIDATE SHORES UP “FIRST IN THE SOUTH” SUPPORT

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Carly Fiorina is shoring up her grassroots support in early-voting South Carolina.  This week, Fiorina’s two Palmetto State leaders – S.C. Reps. Donna Hicks and Phyllis Henderson – unveiled a team of seventeen grassroots activists to spearhead her “First in the South” efforts.

The activists include a prominent bank president, a member of the University of South Carolina’s board of trustees, a former statewide superintendent of education candidate, a Lowcountry high school football coach and a prominent social conservative activist, among others.

“I’ve found that the more South Carolinians learn about Carly Fiorina, the more they like her,” Hicks said. “It is incredible to see thousands coming from across the state to see her speak at town halls.”

“I am thrilled about Carly’s rising support and am happy to announce a growing leadership team,” Henderson added. “I expect the excitement about Carly as a candidate to increase even more as others learn about her many accomplishments and her personal story.”

Fiorina is currently polling at seven percent in South Carolina – good for third place.  That’s especially impressive when you consider she’s going up against campaigns with sizable personnel advantages in the Palmetto State.

Obviously she’s got some questions to answer regarding her corporate history, but Fiorina has proven herself to be an adept campaigner and extremely effective critic of the presumed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.  In fact she’s exceeded most people’s expectations of her candidacy – which many suspected was simply an audition for a possible vice presidential slot.

Uhhhh, I missed your point. Sorry.

Heck, I’m hoping The Donald winds up with the nomination. Like Walker, there is something about Fiorina that bugs me, but I can’t put my finger on it. I don’t know if it has to do with HP or maybe something else, like she’s from Cali.

If you could build a spec candidate I would definitely use her razor sharp mind and debating skills. The woman literally handles hostile media like she is putting them in a tree chipper. It has happened about a half dozen times early on and now the “Interviewers” that are left are scared to say anything to her face. What I wouldn’t give to see her put Hillary through that chipper. I would spring for a pay-for-view event.

Ain’t she back down to single digits – like the growth at HP when she was CEO. Carly Failurina.

Isn’t she the person HP paid 21 million dollars to go away, and then she stiffed her poor campaign workers on her last campaign; claiming the campaign ran out of money? But it turn out that was only after she repaid the loans she had made to the campaign. That Carley? I mean really. Stick it to the poor shareholder, stick it to the poor campaign worker and now she wants to stick it to the taxpayers. I guess its ok though. She is a Republican. It doesn’t count if your are sticking it to unimportant people.

You wouldn’t say that to her face.

I would. She was a complete failure at HP that they still haven’t dug out from. And she’ll never work in tech again, but she wants to be president? Lulz.

She sucks.

I’d say it to her face as well. I’m sure all those people she laid off and stiffed would too. That’s pretty shitty behavior and deserves to be called out.

Your comments indicate that you are completely in the dark about how business works. She did layoff thousands but the pruned company grew and hired back many more than were laid off. Corporations go through life cycles — just like people do. HP was in the mature stage of business life cycle which is either grow or die. Many of its competitors didn’t grow and did die, they were once giants in the field.. The merger is a business STRATEGY taught in all business school. I know. I am a graduate with a MGMT/MIS degree, summa cum laude with honors award in MIS. She positioned that company for further growth and the CEO that followed her carried on with her work. In other words, he didn’t do something different he built on the foundation she started. Today they are the LEADER in the field. You can go to her website and read reviews with people that actually WORKED with her – not uninformed people spouting media pablem designed to get you to do what they want you to do.

Secondly, ALL CORPORATE EXECS get a golden parachute if they are laid off. When you want to take on the responsibility of thousands of workers and make high stress life changing decisions that you can walk away with big books too.

I run a small business, that I built from scratch. I have 12 employees. So I am well aware of high stress, having to worry about my employees, how much it cost for health insurance, taking a pay cuts to keep good people employed; and I frequently work 80 hours a week. So do I have any sympathy for Ms. Fiorina? Hell no. If I fail no one is going to bail me out. There is no “golden parachute”. I guess to people like Fiorina, that’s unimportant because I am not a “corporate exec.” I could not possibly understand the stress her multi million dollar salary and perks were putting her under. I’m just one of the unimportant people. Corporate Execs are the important people and we need to make sure they don’t suffer when they screw up. Just like all those Wall Street Bankers who crashed the economy and ended up with bonuses and “golden parachutes”.

As I see it the lady was hired to do a job. She failed in that job and was fired. She was rewarded for that failure with 21 million bucks of shareholder money. The “Buck” stops with her. From what you are saying not only is she a screw up she is a finger pointer who now refuses to accept responsibility for the things she voluntarily accepted responsibility for and was paid major dollars to handle.

And what about those campaign workers she stiffed. I’m sure she has an explanation for that as well. Just an oversight. There are so many little people. She can’t keep up with every peon wanting a check.

Finally,I don’t give a crap what degree you have. You obviously learned nothing. I have a Masters in Accounting, which has served me quite well. But I learned 90% of what I know about business in the trenches. If you want to know what business is about get your hands dirty. Fly without that big salary, health insurance, 401k etc. etc. And don’t expect people to pay you tons of money when you fail.
Golden parachutes are nothing but a shareholder rip off.

Sir I have worked in small and large entrepreneurial corporations my whole life. And I’ve generated my own paycheck from scratch just like you. What I hear from you is a lot of resentment about your situation. Too bad. The facts and testimonials say something different. If you don’t like your situation change it.

I have no problem with my situation. I am quite happy. This is not about me. This is about a lady who took a job screwed it up, fired a bunch of people who did not have “golden parachutes, then floated away on her “golden parachute” blaming other people for the failure. Then she decided she wanted to be a Senator. Lost that battle and screwed a bunch of people working for her in the process; and now she wants us to trust her. Yea, right! Dream on.
As a former HP Stockholder I will await her offer to return my share of that 21 million she took with her.

I hope you will not be too mad at me for my part in depressing the value of your HP stock. Starting back in 1993, I was part of a Lexmark team that reverse-engineered the laser printer cartridges for HP’s most popular LaserJets™. As anyone with any business smarts knows, the profit center of the printer business is the cartridges, not the printer.

This was before Carly’s time, but may have crippled HP more than she could repair.

Here is where HP screwed up. Canon actually manufactured the LaserJet™ cartridges, put an HP label on them and charged HP for the cost, plus a profit for Canon. The Lexmark clones were fully tooled, all new components with comparable print quality,
reliability and up to 30% greater page yield. Lexmark priced them 10% below HP, who then lowered their price to meet ours. This price war continued for a few more cycles until HP could cut no more without selling at a loss. Lexmark remained 10% lower in price and continued to make a profit on every cartridge,
because Lexmark made their own toner and photoconductor, and assembled the cartridges in Kentucky.

HP management (again, pre-Carly) never figured out what was really going on. Since Lexmark’s market penetration was only about 5%, for every dollar of profit Lexmark lost in the price war, HP lost $19. My biggest compliment was when Canon copied my LaserJet II™ clone with the 30% greater page yield.

Hp’s large market was also in corporate OS licensing (HP-UX) and support, as well as services.

Even banks don’t run HP-UX any longer.

And HP servers went to shit about the time Carly came along.

Rocky Verdad October 23, 2015 at 4:42 pm

I just don’t like her. She doesn’t even look like she’d be good in blue movies.

dwb619 October 23, 2015 at 10:23 pm

Should have seen her before all the “work” was done.

E Norma Scok October 24, 2015 at 2:58 am

Since you have a degree and say you studied her..did they also teach you how she doubled their debt and almost ran HP into the ground? Or how they are still digging our from the stench she left? And how she was voted of the 10 worst CEO’s…ever? Or did you learn about her time at Lucent where she almost did the same thing there, too?

Perhaps you should read the wiki page of Ms Fiorina.

“life changing decisions that require you to work 80 or more hours a week then you can walk away with big bucks too”

Lulz…do you actually work in IS, or just read about it?
