“The poor you will always have with you, but you will not always have me.”-Jesus

A 650k people have healthcare because of him, not seeing the issue. I agree with Will though, Jesus did say “Fuck the poor,” it’s somewhere in the new testament

It wasn’t Jesus that said, “Steal from the rich & give to the poor.”

That was Robin Hood. Most of the time the rich he stole from were working for the King, not taxpayers.

“It’s amazing to me how many people think that voting to have the government give poor people money is compassion. Helping poor and suffering people is compassion. Voting for our government to use guns to give money to help poor and suffering people is immoral self-righteous bullying laziness. People need to be fed, medicated, educated, clothed, and sheltered, and if we’re compassionate we’ll help them, but you get no moral credit for forcing other people to do what you think is right. There is great joy in helping people, but no joy in doing it at gunpoint.”- Penn Jillette

And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?

They say unto him, Caesar’s. Then saith he unto
them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar’s; and
unto God the things that are God’s.

Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One,that is, God. You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.” Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches] to enter the kingdom of God! It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

Yet no where in your citation is Jesus commanding anyone to take wealth from others.

It would, indeed, be wonderful to see Christians endeavor to practice what Jesus preached.

Not sure why this website who is cheering for Trump would be upset over the Medicaid expansion. The Donald has already said he is going to have a plan for everyone to have healthcare. Unless Donald plans on paying for it out of his own pocket, the tax payers will be on the hook for low income and the poor under his plan too.

Would you rather have the poor have Medicad, or no health coverage whatsoever? The poor are going to continue to get sick and injured. At least with Medicaid, someone (the government) is paying the bill.
With no coverage, the poor will go the (expensive) emergency room for primary care coverage and will be unable to pay. The costs of their treatment will be passed on to those of us who can pay.

My neighbor’s brother went to the ER with chest pains yesterday. He has pneumonia and possibly had a heart attack. They did a million tests on him and am transferring him to a different hospital for a few days. He has no insurance. Guess who is paying for that? We are.

Bet it ends up costing an arm and leg. I ended up in the ER last year, nothing as serious as a heart attack, and I wasn’t admitted either – that visit had a price tag of $5,000 and that didn’t include the huge doctor bill and lab bills I received later. Thankfully, I have a $1000 deductible so it didn’t totally break me.

ONLY a $1000 deductible in Obamacare? You must have insurance with your employer or you are paying $1000 a month for Obamacare.

No, I have a grandfathered private plan….which I pay $750 a month for now. So everyone bitching about their insurance premiums isn’t news to me. I’ve been forking over a fortune for over a decade.

just a fact October 21, 2015 at 7:54 pm

Only way you have insurance in Ohio under the expanded Obamacare is if you go to a FREE/sliding scale clinic. Nobody is taking new Medicaid patients in Ohio.

sky high October 21, 2015 at 8:54 pm

Don’t live in Ohio, so not knowledgeable. I did just read a couple of articles about health care and urgent care clinics in Ohio that take Medicaid patients. But really, were top notch (expensive) surgeons and specialists seeing Medicaid patients basis on a regular basis before 2009? My GP both sees Medicare and Medicaid patients and he is no slouch. Believe the gastro group I use also see them, since their allergy clinic days are always filled with little kids.

We already Pay astronomically because the non-payers do not invest in their health, as payers MUST do, or be penalized. Obamacare has just made a terrible system for contributors even WORSE.

The “poor” already had the BEST healthcare in the history of humanity. Show up at the ER, after you’ve let your – or your child’s- sickness evolve to its worst…then get lavish care (that working-paying people cannot afford)…because the ignorant Democrats said we MUST pay…for their votes…
