THE STATUS QUO HAS A “PLAN C”
Todd Atwater is a “Republican” member of the S.C. House of Representatives. He was elected in 2010 to represent District 87, which is located in Lexington County (the seat formerly held by Nikki Haley). A fiscal liberal, Atwater has consistently backed higher taxes and bigger government.
Why are we telling you all this? Because according to our sources, Atwater – a former status quo lobbyist and special interest operative extraordinaire – is plotting a campaign for statewide office in 2018.
In fact Atwater nearly ran for lieutenant governor in 2014, but opted against it when Haley’s chosen No. 2 Pat McKinney got into the race.
He’s not waiting this go-round, we’re told …
If Atwater opts for governor, he’ll become part of a very crowded field. Numerous high-profile names are said to be eyeing the seat, and if even half of the prospective candidates follow through and enter the race – it’s going to be a hugely entertaining, expensive affair.
How could a third-term state lawmaker like Atwater hope to be competitive in such a race? Money.
This guy is joined at the hip with the Palmetto State’s wealthiest, most entrenched special interests. For years he advanced their agendas as a paid hack, now he’s advancing their interests inside the legislature.
Make no mistake, they will reward him if he runs …

Not “no”, but “HELL NO”.
??
And McMaster or Ard had any of those?
Probably best to go with ALL OF THE ABOVE.
No shit ?
Hmm…No, I think he’s full of a lot of that.
FITS and Boz HATE the guy, and CinC, and Shifty, too…. All the Cliche, WE HATE EVERYBODY but Ourselves-based on nothing – crowd.
Atwater’s chances to win just rose about 70%.LMAO…
I’ll have to read about it on SC Political Digest……… oh wait!
It’s still there. There is article on there now that predicts months ago that Jeb was a loser. It was when FITS and every media in America was coronating Jeb as the GOP nominee.
SCPD looks GENIUS now, while FITS and you have shit all over your faces. And you’re making a damn fool of yourself, referencing it. LMAO.
Unless you are a skilled necromancer that shitty blog is staying dead as it should!
Lol….everybody is a damn criminal…you got it right…I imagine when one looks in the mirror and sees failure they ascribe their own misery to others…good post
Is it tough to keep the imagination going when you are jerking yourself off while pretending to be a different person?
They are mutual masturbators, then. Neither is clever enough to sustain a prolonged campaign of maintaining actual seperate identities. Flip apes GT to some extent fairly well. GT can’t truly ape anyone but himself. Only major change in GT: Actually “fucks” and such, instead of the stupidly censored “Comics Code of the ’50s” version he used to do. Other than that, same-o lame-o. pogo remains pogo in all his trollish sockpuppetry.
Their duprass, epressingly, remains intact.
And all is wrong with their world.
Im going to have to that.
“and Shifty, too” – Hey, how the hell did I get into this conversation?
is he an ATWATER atwater?
Not son of Lee.
Has there ever been a halfway decent politician named Atwater? I doubt it.
The word “decent” can be interpreted several ways. Lee Atwater was certainly successful.
The S.C. constitution changed the way lieutenant governor is elected. The Governor and Lieutenant governor now run on a ticket in the general election.
Is there still a Republican primary for lieutenant governor or does the party primary winners pick the S.C. lieutenant governor candidates like the President picks his/her running mate?
Good question. I just assumed that the Governor candidates would pick a running mate like on the federal level. Often this ends up being one of their primary opponents that has dropped out and endorsed them. A primary for Lieutenant Governor doesn’t make sense. Anyone have the details?
I believe that (1) SC doesn’t need a Lt. Gov, and (2) the Lt. Gov. should run independently of the Gov. – on his/her own.
The Atwater line should be forever barred from government service.
The guy once worked for Joe Wilson in DC.
Sunday’s ‘The State’ points out he is an actual working lobbyist elected to the legislature.
What smart voters they have in Lexington County!
Do they think if it comes down to a case of them versus his employers, the people who give him his real paycheck, on some issue that he will choose the voters?
And, he’s not the only actual lobbyist in the state legislature per that story.
What is wrong with voters across SC ???
