Rationality will never get in the way of ignorance and refusal to see that the waters are muddied with false information. GT doesn’t see things as being rational, he only sees things in an ideological and emotional way. Thus, I only really see these as opinion pieces, and nothing of fact. I agree with that position. The Sierra club guy was pathetic.
But Big Oil has paid an enormous amount of money over the years to “disprove” climate change data. No different that what the tobacco industry did to convince us that ciggies were not bad for us, or what Big Pharma and Big Booze have done to discredit all who want to legalize weed for any purpose whatsoever. In fact, some of the same hired shill apologist “experts” have been on the payroll of several of these “Bigs.”
Cruz is a tool of Big Money, and in particular that branch of Big Money that wants to have full reign to fuck over the planet and all living things in every way it can that will turn a profit for them. Let future generations deal with it, seems to be the position they take. They’re getting theirs now, fuck the future.
He is also in league with a bunch of extremely useful idiots who believe that literally every single living species on the earth somehow crowded onto a big boat that really was built by a guy named Noah — and that dinosaurs were not on that boat because they didn’t exist, and their bones were planted by Satan to turn us all against God.
He is clearly NOT a spokesman for “the free market”, which may or may not really exist at this time (IF it ever did, or ever will). He is an unpleasant, pedantic little opportunist creep, who always looks like he’s either in the process of taking a painful dump, or passing a huge kidney stone. Hardly anyone you should hold up as a hero.

It’s not referred to as global warming anymore. Because it’s not just about warming. It’s about change. That’s the starting point. And, we all know that Cruz is a gifted debater, can’t argue that. But, that doesn’t mean his point was correct. Re: Mair? His performance was truly unexplainable but I think he will have lots of opportunities to practice–when he’s interviewing for new jobs.

I think, being a layman myself, that the science is so complex that neither you, nor I, nor many people can truly understand what is going on. To discount global warming as a hoax is wrong, but it’s okay to err on the side of caution. Firstly, you’ve got to know where you’re getting these climate models from. Who are the sources that are giving out this information? Trace them back to their initial source and see who’s funding this sector of research. Who’s being bought out by the oil industry, and who’s not? Who’s a paid shill purposely muddying the waters with disinformation (a practice on both sides) and who isn’t? Climate change is natural, sure, but in all fairness I personally believe we exacerbate the issues by polluting our planet with toxins. Much like our bodies, a very sensitive and frail organism, the earth is very much so the same way. We see our home as strong, but once you poison it with a cancerous additive (human beings, associated wastes that poison the oceans and make water uninhabitable, pollute the air, etc) then you’ve got an issue. China, for instance, is nearly uninhabitable due to pollution. You lose years off your life breathing in the poisonous smog, and drinking the poisonous water. Think about what that’s doing to our planet.
Cruz is bought and paid for by big Oil. He will deny anything is happening right up until the last piece of ice on the planet melts. He is no different from the Senators from Tobacco states in the 50s and 60s. Cigarettes do not cause Cancer. There is no evidence. Scientist are lying. LIberals are lying. Give your kids a carton for Christmas.
We’ll be long dead before the last piece of ice melts. When the arctic keeps shedding his shell, it releases dangerous amounts of carbon into the atmosphere. Catastrophic amounts. If I could upvote your comment a hundred more times I would. I didn’t even THINK about big tobacco in the 50s and 60s, and not to mention what big oil did when scientists realized that lead in gasoline was poisonous.
