|| By FITSNEWS || We already knew fiscally liberal S.C. Rep. Chip Limehouse was going to face a credible primary opponent in 2016 if he ran for another term representing S.C. House District 110.
Russell Guerard – who would have beaten Limehouse in 2014 were it not for a last-minute attack mailing – indicated months ago that he is seeking the seat.
Now that Limehouse has announced he will not seek reelection in 2016, though, we expect a flood of candidates to emerge.
In fact two attorneys – Charleston, S.C. personal injury lawyer Eddie Phipps and corporate/ environmental attorney Mike Seekings – are said to be contemplating candidacies.
Seekings is a Charleston city councilman recently described by the local alternative paper as “part of the reason why Charleston is an oasis of sanity in a desert of Red State politicking.”
Hmmm …
The paper also referred to him as “a progressive who loves bikes, preservation, and infill development.”
Ah yes … “progressives” running as “Republicans.” And we wonder why there’s no real difference between the two major parties in this state?
Anyway, stay tuned to FITS. As we hear additional names for this seat, we’ll be sure to let you know.
Filing for all S.C. House and Senate elections begins next March, with party primaries (and runoff elections) held in June and general elections held in November.

“Jockeying”, eh?
If, in Charleston there was just one libertarian leaning, polo player with previous political experience and a last name well known to the electorate….
Aren’t they all lawyers? Can’t we find a used car salesman to run?
And a black preacher?
— or a black, lesbian nun?
Why are you on Seekings case Fits?
Hell out of one side of you mouth you claim to back a noninterventionist foreign policy.
Out of the other you’re making nice with Ted Cruz a guy who takes no back seat to McCain and Lindsay in wanting to stir up a war in the Midfle East.
That glass house you live in doesn’t leave you in too good a position to criticize anyone else for consistency in their adherence to,
“Conservative values.”
There’s more than one person writing. Watch the by-lines. When its Will Folks, it says Will Folks & the rest of the time its fitsnews – and, that explains some of the schizophrenia.
